CHAPTER INDEX
16
Orlando was happy to start working again. He was bursting with energy. His publicist had e-mailed him a script a few days before his birthday. The story enthralled him and he had personal experience of the delicate subject. He had been offered the part of Dorian Birch, a famous street artist who one day disappears from New York City daily life. The corner where he used to paint the buildings and passing cars was empty. His character Dorian had died of leukemia.
There was a part of Orlando that wanted nothing more than to delete the e-mail, but Orlando KNEW he had to do this movie. He knew he’d get to deal with the subject from a slightly different point of view. It would be courageous of him to film it. It would also show the sceptics he knew how to act. His status as the guy who wields swords would be pushed to the side. The plotline was excellent in Orlando’s opinion. He showed it to Viggo as well; asked his opinion about the story.
Orlando was constantly smiling as the filming began in New York. That caused some trouble for him at times. He was supposed to be crying and feel really bad lying in a hospital bed. He wore a bald mask making him look like he did before the transplantation All bald with almost no hair. He had vivid memories of what it was, so it was easy for him to make Dorian slowly die.
He was tired when he got back to Viggo’s apartment for the night. He had been crying and dying continuously for an hour before dismissal.
“Hey...” came the warm hello from the bedroom door. Orlando smiled and hugged Viggo.
“Tired much?” Viggo asked making Orlando giggle.
“I am.”
“Not good. I ran you a bath.” Orlando’s face lit up.
“You did? Excellent!” Orlando enthused, tiredness gone and gave Viggo a kiss.
“Join me?” The perfectly innocent question made Viggo uneasy.
“I might not get out of there alive.” Orlando laughed already pulling the shirt over his head.
“Your loss.” he said with a grin.
Viggo was biting his lip trying to decide. Orlando jumping on one foot trying to pull a sock off of his other finally made the decision for him. Shaking his head with a smile Viggo started stripping down. He couldn’t resist Orlando, in any shape or form.
“Had fun at work?” Viggo asked as he sat down behind Orlando and pulled him against his chest.
“Yeah, even though we shot the scenes for Dorian losing the battle. I think I’ve never done so much of fading away, ever.” Viggo instinctively strengthened his hold on Orlando.
“Man, it was hard, but I’m glad the director is pleased.” Orlando stated leaning against Viggo and letting his head drop on Viggo’s shoulder with a sigh.
“When will you be needed back on the set?” Orlando asked turning his head a little and looking at Viggo sideways.
“Not for two days yet.”
“Good because I got a day off tomorrow. Maybe we could do something fun.” Orlando said pressing a wet peck to Viggo’s jaw.
“Like...what?”
“I don’t know yet. You were born here. Show me around.”
“You’ve been to New York before.”
“I know. It’s just that I sorely missed ‘Viggo’s New York’...the weird places and sights no one would normally look at.”
Viggo smiled. “Suits me.”
“And I wish we could... unite our souls,” Orlando said blushing slightly for his bold request. Viggo chuckled.
“It’s just... I’ve missed it, too. It’s been haunting my dreams for the past week or so. I know we’ve been back together for only a few months but... It doesn’t change the fact we already know each other, what we like, what we don’t like, what arouses us, what doesn’t.”
“Believe me I’ve thought about it.”
“So... will you make love with me?”
“I most definitely will but first you will get some sleep. Tomorrow we’ll see.” Orlando smiled and relaxed.
“I have to admit this makes my eyes droop.”
“Warm water has that effect. Now, let me wash you and then you are ready for bed.”
Orlando fell asleep almost immediately after he got to bed. He hadn’t even bothered to put his boxers on. Viggo knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep with a naked Orlando right beside him. He lay there awake just watching Orlando sleep. He noticed one thing had changed in Orlando over their years apart. He had stopped drooling in his sleep. The realization made Viggo chuckle quietly.
Just before six in the morning Viggo got up, dressed quietly and slipped out to go buy breakfast and supplies. Supplies securely in his pocket he made his way to the bakery near his home and bought fresh buns and orange juice. He also bought the newspaper before heading back. He returned back to bed and spooned a dozing Orlando. That’s how he woke up a few hours later, spooned. But now he was in Orlando’s strong arms.
“Hey,” Orlando spoke behind him.
“Hey, yourself,” Viggo answered turning around.
“You ready to go?”
Now that Viggo woke up a little more he realized Orlando was fully dressed and his hair was slightly damp.
“Breakfast first.”
“Why don’t we eat it in Central Park or one of the Viggo places?”
“Let me take a shower.”
Orlando stood up from the bed and admired the sight in front of him: Viggo bending down removing his boxers.
“In moments like this I think clothes are highly overrated,” Orlando said chuckling.
Viggo laughed on his way to shower.
“Just you wait,” he called just before opening the faucet.
