Plea for Help!

No fic this morning. Still working on "Safety in Silence" and I have a heck of a headache so the writing I thought I'd get done this morning... Didn't get done. Obviously. Instead I am sending out a plea for help.

The fic I will be writing for NaNoWriMo will be VigOrli and takes place in England, specifically Canterbury and London. Problem is: I've never been to either place! So I'll need some advice on landmarks, keeping my fictional spots sounding real, and the sights, sounds, smells of things. Also, has anyone ridden the train from Canterbury to London or vice versa?

The characters will pretty much be themselves except for the fact that Viggo ISN'T an actor and so NZ never happened. He's an artist but Orlando is an actor who will be starring in a play. Wow, the originality just jumps out at you, doen't it?! What I am unfamiliar with is the whole acting in a play thing. Except for high school productions (and I went to a very very small school) I've never been involved in a play, so any help with how a play is put together and through opening night would be most appreciated.

Let's see...*consults the mighty notebook* Also need help with an "artist's language. Names of paints, terms, that sort of thing.

Okay, here's to hoping I can get that last bit of "Safety in Silence" written...especially since I appearantly missed Viggo's birthday! *hides*

Big fan of your writing, and I'm quite excited to hear you'll be participating in NaNoWriMo this year! Should be a great read.

I think I can help you somewhat here. While I have never been to Canterbury, I have been to Exeter and Kent, and I spent time at the University of Reading just outside London. I used to take the train to London when I could, and I've wandered around a bit in the big city. Saw plays on Drury Lane and all that. :D

I'm also an artist, haha! My specialty is in Oils on Stretched Canvas. I can help you with the components of canvas stretching and color compounds/maintenance and such. Anything I don't know, I'm sure I can ask one of my girlfriends about. Anyhoo, that just my little bit of offered assistance.

Not ever having been in the UK myself, I can't help you, but I CAN say that I'm greatly looking forward to your fic. I can only imagine how wonderful it's going to be and I admire anyone who takes on this challenge! You are a wonder!

Oh dammit! Yours must have been one of the comments that I missed when my lj notifications began to stop appearing in my email inbox! I was curious about street painters or art in general on the streets. Murals on buildings. If you see it, if you don't... And what's your impression of London: crowded, noisy, quiet...that kind of thing. *pout* I am not happy with lj right now. *goes off to check other past posts*
