Chapter 20
Orlando smiled as the two gentlemen became suddenly very quiet. He looked from one face to the other trying to decipher what was going on. The look on both of the men’s faces each told a different story. The one gentleman who had arrived first looked like he was quite pleased with himself. The other, the man who had the coughing spell, which he still felt terrible about, looked very uncomfortable and very nervous like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
“Sorry,” he stammered trying to break the uncomfortable silence. “I didn’t mean to intrude on your conversation,” he shifted nervously as he waited for someone to speak.
“Not at all dear boy,” Ian finally replied as he gave Orlando a warm smile. “Not at all, we were just talking about how wonderful this restaurant is. Weren’t we Christopher?” he asked as he glared at his companion.
“Uh, why yes, yes,” the older man smiled hesitantly. “I was just saying to Ian here what a lovely set of plates you have adorning the walls, and he said ‘oh my’.” He coughed slightly after he finished his rather unbelievable lie. ‘Was he really a lawyer?’ he thought.
“Oh yes, they are quite wonderful,” Ian agreed with a smile. “Don’t you agree Orlando?” he asked looking up at the young man.
Orlando looked oddly at the plates adorning the brown textured walls, they were simple really, nothing fancy or expensive. But what did he know. “Um.. they are quite nice,” he finally replied trying not to offend the two men who must know what they were talking about. “Are you ready to order?” he asked feeling out of sorts somewhat.
“I think we are,” Ian replied. “Chris?”
“Yes, I believe I’ll have the lasagna, with the salad and the same as my friend for the wine,” he replied as he handed the menu back to Orlando.
Ian watched Orlando as he took the menu. “I’ll have the same,” he smiled at Orlando.
“I’ll be right back then,” he said with a forced smile.
Ian watched as the server walked away from the table. Giving enough distance so he would not hear them again. “You’re sure?” he asked again leaning across the table eagerly.
“Oh yes,” Christopher smiled. “The mans wife brought in several photos. Some of them were…quite intimate.”
“You wouldn’t happen to have them with you perchance?’ Ian asked chuckling as he settled back into his chair.
Christopher glared at his friend and frowned. “Of course not, I gave them back to that woman.”
“Too bad,” Ian smiled again as he took a sip of his wine. “They would have been most interesting to see.”
“Oh I can most assure you they were indeed,” he smiled slyly.
“Do tell?” Ian grinned, his eyes sparkling now with interest.
“I really shouldn’t tell you this,” he paused as he laid one finger against his lip, tapping it lightly.
“Oh don’t go all confidential and moral on me now my friend,” Ian growled.
Christopher laughed deeply. “Why Ian, what else would I be?”
“A big pompous ass that gets his kicks by letting me know all the intimate dealings of your most secretive divorce cases,” Ian replied.
Christopher sighed. “To true.”
“Go on,” Ian urged.
“Let’s just say that our lovely server is as beautiful without his clothes on as he is with.”
“And?” Ian prodded.
“Very smooth skin, taut and golden,” he replied softly. “His legs long and lean. Slender hips and a very nice round bottom.”
“Hmmm, that’s what I had imagined,” Ian sighed.
“The pictures were quite good considering,” Christopher added. “Very detailed. I believe our Orlando is quite the passionate man, his face showed as much.”
“Oh good lord,” Ian moaned as he pictured Orlando in the throes of passion.
“He is exquisite Ian,” Christopher added. “I can’t really blame the man for wanting him. Who wouldn’t?”
“And the man he was with. What was he like?” Ian asked.
“He was older. Mid 40’s, lean, more muscular, dark blond hair, very light blue eyes, piercing actually. Well groomed, professional looking.”
“I…” Ian began. But he didn’t finish his sentance as Orlando came back with their salads and more wine.
“Are you gentlemen doing okay still?” he asked shyly.
“We’re doing absolutely lovely Orlando,” Ian answered cheerfully. “Have you worked here long?”
“Oh somewhat,” he answered shocked by the sudden question. “I’m actually going to school. Something in the health care profession.”
“Oh!” Ian exclaimed. “Like a doctor or such?”
“Well…I don’t know about that,” he replied. That’s a lot of schooling. I just want to help people.”
“I’m sure you do,” Ian replied. “Or you could be wicked lawyers like Christopher and I.”
“You’re both lawyers?” he asked his eyes going wide with surprise.
“Oh yes, I deal with corporate law, but my friend here is a divorce lawyer.”
“Oh,” Orlando swallowed hard around the lump in his throat. “Um…you get many cases that are difficult?”
“Yes, yes I do, quite often in fact,” Christopher responded. “I just had someone in today that had a very interesting case, most interesting,” he grinned over at Ian.
Ian had clamped his hand over his mouth to keep from laughing. Poor Orlando looked so frightened. “Christopher stop,” he implored. “Don’t tease the boy!”
“What?” he gestured innocently? “The boy asked.” He then turned back to Orlando. “Do you need some sort of council young man? Or know of someone who might require some assistance?”
Orlando could feel the sweat forming on his brow and his pulse starting to race. “Um…I’m…not sure…I know someone..who might,” he murmured.
Christopher reached into his pocket and handed Orlando his business card. “Have them call me,” he said as he placed the card into Orlando’s hand and giving it an extra squeeze.
Orlando looked down at the card and read the name. “Your…your Mr. Lee then?” he asked.
“Yes, yes I am, Christopher Lee,” he said as he shook the hand that he still held.
Orlando shook his hand hesitantly. “Um thanks…I will be sure to give this to my….er… friend.”
“You do that my boy, I am one of thee best lawyers in the city for messy divorce cases. Not to toot my own horn, but I am the best you can get.”
“Thanks,” he murmured as he put the card in his pocket. “I’ll be back,” he said quietly as he left the men alone.
“Well that was subtle!” Ian exclaimed as he watched Orlando’s ass as he walked away.
“I’m not known for my tact,” Christopher replied as he took a drink. “Ahhh, this is quite good.”
“What about the women?” Ian questioned him as he ate.
“The wife? I have a feeling I may have a conflict of interest in this one. I guess I’ll just have to drop her.”
“And represent the husband?” Ian pushed for more info.
Christopher smiled. “Orlando is quite the innocent party in all this Ian; he seems like a very nice young man, I would feel bad about having to drag him through a nasty divorce.”
“So you don’t believe it will come around to going to court then?” Ian asked.
“There is always some indiscretion in someone’s life Ian; you just have to dig around enough to find it,” Christopher replied as he sipped his wine slowly.
Ian laughed, “So you think this woman has some sort of indiscretion then?”
Christopher smiled knowingly.
“If you need any help at all Chris, I will be glad to offer my services.”
Christopher raised his glass. “A toast then. To Orlando, may he always keep a smile on that lovely face of his.”
“Here, here,” Ian grinned. “And to that lovely backside of his too!”
“Yes,” Christopher smiled wickedly.” To that too.”

Orlando walked over to the bar and set his tray down watching the two men. They seemed to have an inside joke with each other and he got the feeling it was definitely about him. He realized immediately that the two men were gay. That didn’t bother him. He really didn’t feel like he was being hit on. Just…looked at, on display.
“What are you looking at Orli?” Billy asked as he slid in next to him.
“Those older gentlemen over there,” he motioned with his head. “They give me an odd sort of feeling.”
“Are they hitting on you?” Billy asked knowing that Orlando was the best looking guy in the place and that he was hit on by both sexes quite often.
“No…not hitting, maybe flirting slightly. But I get the vibe that they’re talking about me, or about something, I don’t get it. They told me they were lawyers, the one a divorce lawyer, he even gave me his card…like he knew I might need one,” he laughed nervously as he handed Billy the card.
“Lawyers are like hound dogs Orli, they can smell blood a mile away. They probably sense something from you.”
“I’m not sure, but I will definitely give this card to Viggo,” he replied as he stuck the card back in his pocket.
“Are you seeing him tonight then? Billy asked.
“Yeah I’m meeting him after work at the hotel down the street.”
“Be careful Orli, Billy said as he laid a hand on his shoulder. “That Chloe sounds like a real bitch; she may be having you followed.”
Orlando blanched considerably, “You really think so?” he asked.
Billy shrugged, “Don’t know mate, but err on the side of caution eh?”
“Yeah, you’re right Bill’s, thanks,” he smiled.
“Now get you ass back to work before you get yourself fired or something,” he grinned as he took the two bottle of beer from the barkeep.
“I’m sure their food is ready by now anyway,” he answered as he turned and walked back to the kitchen. He knew it was going to be a long night, and really, he just wished he could leave and go see Viggo and make sure they were going to be alright.
