Epilogue - …and all the ways lead back to you
Viggo smiled as the barking of a dog and his lover’s voice echoed through the house. Moments later both of them ran into the kitchen.
“It is fucking cold outside.” Orlando declared, throwing himself at Viggo and wrapping his arms around him.
“That doesn’t mean you have to touch me with your cold hands.” Viggo laughed, trying to squirm out of Orlando’s grasp.
“No but I want you to warm me up.” Orlando declared innocently, snuggling even closer. Viggo just shook his head and wrapped his arms around Orlando.
“How has your day been, angel?”
“Oh it was great. Cady drew a picture for me. She’s such a cutie.” Orlando searched in the pocket of his coat, pulling out a folded piece of paper. Cady was one of the girls in the theater group. He gave it to Viggo, still smiling.
Viggo returned the smile. It was an Orli-smile. Viggo loved the Orli-smile. That kind of smile would light up Orlando’s whole face and make his eyes sparkle. He unfolded the paper, looking at the vague lines of childish drawing.
“That’s Sidi and that’s Cady as Snow-White.” Orlando pointed on the forms on the paper. “And they are on a field of flowers because they want to bring me a bunch of flowers.” He added proud of the picture.
“That’s really nice. We should put it on the pin board with the other ones.” Viggo suggested, searching for a free space on the pin board that was already full of drawings from children. Orlando loved every single one of them and Viggo couldn’t blame him. Orlando also loved all the children from his theater group. Orlando had made no more movies after the Rings trilogy. The crowds and screaming fans at the premiers had been too much for him, scared him. Together they had decided to move to Viggo’s ranch in Idaho. No paparazzi bothered them here, no fans. Viggo could concentrate on his art and after searching for a job Orlando had came across a theater group for children. He loved his work and the children loved him. Viggo was simply happy for Orlando. The Brit didn’t lead the life he had probably imagined when he came to New Zealand. He was no more a shooting star his face had been forgotten quickly after the hype about the movies stopped. Now they led a simply life, but they were happy. Viggo often thought that the children had caused a big chance to happen within Orlando. Their innocent and simple view of the world helped Orlando to see the good things again. To know that there was something good in the world.
“Oh I have to tell Beanie about the painting.” Orlando bounced of, before he ran back and placed a kiss on Viggo’s cheek.
“I love you, old man.”
“Love you too.”
Viggo shook his head and smiled to himself as Orlando ran from the room again, full of life.
He had woken from his nightmare.
