Chapter 4
As they walked back to the apartment, Orlando made several discreet glances at Viggo as the man walked silently beside him. He really hadn’t thought that Viggo would help him in his quest to find out who he was. It was almost a shock of sorts when he agreed to help, a very pleasant shock, but a shock nonetheless.
They made their way up the stairs to the top floor and stood in front of the door in silence.
“Shit,” Viggo cussed as he felt around in his pockets for the key to the door.
“What is it?’ Orlando asked from beside him with a frown on his face.
“I left the damn key in the apartment when I left.”
“Oh, there’s a spare key under the fire extinguisher,” he offered, pointing to the object hanging on the wall behind them.
Viggo eyebrow rose at this bit of information. He walked over the wall and lifted the red object and felt under it. Sure enough, there it was. He pulled the key out and showed it to Orlando, who just gave him the look of, “I told you so.” As he crossed his arms in front of his chest and smiled.
Viggo walked back to the door and began to insert the key when Orlando interrupted him.
“Hey, I know what I can do,” he said rather enthused.
“What?” Viggo growled as his shoulders dropped in frustration at his constant companion.
Orlando smiled, “Watch,” he grinned as he walked through the door and opened it from the other side. “See!” he smiled as he motioned with his hand for Viggo to enter the apartment.
He walked through the door and threw the key on the table. “You think you’re smart don’t you?” he said sarcastically.
“Well no, not really,” Orlando answered.
Viggo all but collapsed on the couch and laid his head back with a thud against its back and closed his eyes.
Orlando stood looking at him. “Aren’t we going to start looking?” he asked finally when he could stand the silence no longer.
“I’m pretty beat,” he said as he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand.
“Oh,” he replied softly as he sat down on the couch next to him. Orlando looked around the room and at the various pictures that adorned the walls. They didn’t help him remember anything at all; he knew they were his, that this was his place. “I guess we can wait till morning,” he said after Viggo had not responded.
“Yeah, morning sounds good,” he groaned as he rose off the couch and headed to the bedroom. Orlando’s eyes watched him go. Viggo had his back turned towards him as he pulled the shirt over his head and threw it down on the nearest chair. Orlando bit back a comment about his usual practice of not keeping things clean and orderly, but he kept his mouth shut this time for he wanted Viggos help and he wouldn’t get it by doing that. But he did take the time to watch the firm muscles that stretched under luscious skin, it made his mouth water and his tongue came out to lick his parched lips, as it had been a while since he had had any feelings of that nature about anyone. He didn’t have time for close relationships. His mind was totally focused on his work and on his patients. This was perhaps the first time he had actually noticed a man’s back in a sexual way. He watched as the pants came off next and his eyes raked over the long lean legs that were covered with a light dusting of blonde hair. He licked his lips again as he thought of what his backside looked like. But he was disappointed when that was all that Viggo removed as he went to lie down upon the bed. Not under the sheets mind you..but on the top of the soft bedspread, his wonderful body exposed to the now hungry Orlando.
He got off the couch and walked quietly over to the door, looking inside for a better look.
Viggo lay still with his eyes closed, his chest rising and falling with his every breath. Orlando watched the erotic sight. He bit his lower lip to stop the groan that wanted to emerge.
“What are you looking at?” Viggo suddenly asked, as he felt the mans eyes upon him.
“Um nothing I was just wondering where I would be sleeping.” He answered softly.
“Do you even need to sleep?’ he asked.
“I…I don’t know.” Orlando stuttered, shrugging his shoulders. “I think maybe I do, but I’m not sure.”
Viggo laughed. “I’m sure being a ghost as you are you could probably sleep anywhere.”
Orlando pondered the thought for a moment before speaking. “I was hoping to sleep in my bed.”
Viggo’s eyes popped open then. “You must be joking?” he said with a snort. “You are no way sleeping in this bed with me!”
Orlando bit at his nails as he decided what to say, “You scared?” he asked finally.
“What! What do I have to be scared of?” he asked.
“Exactly my point, nothing, because I’m really not here!” Orlando replied back.
He heard Viggo muttering to himself, and watched as he rolled on his side. “Do whatever you want.” He growled as he closed his eyes once more.
Orlando walked hesitantly to the bed and sat down. He looked behind him at Viggo and watched as the man lay still. He kicked his shoes off and lay back down on his back letting out a soft sigh as his head hit the feather pillow.
Viggo eyes opened as he felt Orlando lay next to him and listened to the sound of the soft sigh that passed his perfect lips. He felt nervous for some reason with Orlando lying next to him. He closed his eyes tightly, trying to ignore the stirring he felt in his boxers. He crossed his arms tightly across his chest.
Orlando’s eyes turned to watch Viggo as he felt the man stiffen beside him.
“I won’t touch you,” he said quietly, turning his head to look in Viggos direction.
“It’s not that,” Viggo said wearily.
“What is it?”
“It just feels odd having someone in the same bed as me. It’s been a while…”
Orlando thought back to Viggo lover. “I’m sorry Viggo.” He said sincerely.
“Don’t worry about it,” he answered as he tried to dismiss the other odd feeling. “Goodnight,” he said gruffly.
“Night Viggo,” he responded quietly as he turned and lay on his side behind Viggo. He wanted to reach out a hand to comfort him…but what was the use?
