Title: Meeting Milo

She stood and stretched, leaving Roy to his morning coffee on the porch. She hadn’t seen their houseguest since his arrival late the night before.
“There you are,” she whispered as she peeked around the door to the master suite. She padded quietly in and sat down next to him as he sprawled on her bed. She smiled at him, absent-mindedly playing with a silk chocolate tress. “I’m so glad you’re here.”
He glanced up at her before returning his gaze to the cradle. “Me too, love. Wouldn’t miss this,” he whispered back. “Hope it’s okay I’m in here. I had to get another look at him. Gods, Livvie, he’s just a beauty.”
She beamed with a new mother’s pride. They watched the baby for a while, the silence of long minutes broken only by his tiny sigh as he briefly stirred and then drifted back to deep slumber.
“You think I’ll ever be a parent?” he nudged her with his head, a touch of wistfulness in his voice.
“I think you can be whatever you want to be.” She pressed a kiss of reassurance to the mop of dark curls.
He smirked at her. “Want to surrogate for us?”
She didn’t miss a beat. “Only if I get to do Viggo.”
He pressed his face into the pillow to stifle his giggles. “Well,” he said, “we can run it past him when he gets here tonight.”
He rose and took her hand, and they left Milo to his nap and went to find some breakfast.
