Based on this picture:

GONE FISHING

Orlando bounced out of bed and hurried down the stairs, eager to greet this day and Viggo, but he wasn’t there. “Gone Fishing” the note said, and Orlando’s spirits sank a little when he realised that meant “gone all day” since Viggo had no scenes to film and his camera had been taken from its usual hook.

He looked hopefully around the kitchen. Nothing. Nothing in the cupboards. Nothing in any of the other rooms. Nothing in the mailbox. “So”, he huffed to himself, “No-one’s remembered, then . . .”

He walked upstairs again, slower this time, showered and dressed, then left the house and walked sadly along the road to the first set of the day. His hands thrust into his pockets, careless of pulling his jacket out of shape, he trudged along, misery etched in his hunched shouldered walk.

He smiled a Good Morning to the security guard at the gate, but couldn’t really summon up the enthusiasm to speak. He knew he was being childish, but really . . .

Everything seemed very quiet inside. There weren’t any lights on yet or many people around so, still feeling miserable, he leaned against the window, staring sorrowfully out into the street.

Until suddenly, strong arms wrapped around him and pushed him through the door. As the lights flickered on and Sean released his grip, Orlando took in the sight of what looked like a hundred people . . . balloons and party streamers . . . a huge cake . . . a table piled high with gifts . . . and Viggo stepping out of the crowd holding a glass of champagne.

“Happy Birthday, Orlando”, he said, and suddenly a hundred voices were echoing the words, “Happy Birthday!”

In the midst of all the noise, Viggo hugged him tight and whispered against his ear, “Thought I’d forgotten, didn’t you? Forgiven?”

“Maybe . . .”, smiled Orlando, his misery vanishing, and as he looked at Viggo his eyes were bright with unshed tears.

awwww, poor Orlando, thinking everyone had forgotten his birthday. *hugs him* But isn't Viggo lovely for arranging the surprise! Lovely bit of fluff, a very nice way to start the day!

Awwww! He looks so sad and dejected in the picture--I'm glad you found a way to make things turn out better than alright!

Thanks for sharing!

I just love this photo of him, actually I had it printed out and put on my notice board. Like this story, I always think there must be something else behind that sad picture. Sweet story.
