The brothers had been settled into their rooms and were left alone for awhile to explore the palace as they wished. They had been offered guided tours as soon as they arrived, but only Karl had taken offer from Colin. Viggo and Sean had decided to look around for themselves.

They were put down a long hallway, which the brothers suspected housed a good twenty rooms for either guests or Brad’s family. The sheer size of the palace definitely outranked Dione’s own palace, but Boeotia was also a much bigger country. They knew Boeotia would be big, but this outdid anything they could’ve ever thought of.

The rooms, as they found out, were quite large and decorated quite fancily. They were mostly in gold tones and each led out onto a private balcony, where they overlooked the large city. It was obviously a place to show off to visiting leaders and royalty.

Karl headed off to find Colin after he was finally feeling better for a tour as he would probably get lost on his own. The two had become fast friends and although Colin had tried to take it further with Karl, he ceased any advancements once he learned of Jake.

Sean had left his room long ago to speak with Brad about a possible peace treaty, leaving Viggo to entertain himself. Brad had invited Karl and Viggo to participate in the talks, but Viggo immediately declined and Karl decided join in later after his tour.

Viggo still wasn’t sure what to think about Brad. He seemed to be pleasant, but it seemed like he was hiding something. Whenever Viggo was around him, he felt Brad wasn’t quite telling the truth or he seemed oddly private.

The trip to Boeotia had proved to be going a lot better than Viggo originally thought, but he was still missing home. Boeotia was huge, but didn’t have the cozy feeling that Dione, the smaller country, had. They had been welcomed warmly and had wonderful accommodations, but it still wasn’t home.

Viggo had actually gotten himself lost a few times before he found himself back at the lower level of the palace, directly next to the library.

He entered through the large, heavy double doors and found himself in a very tall room that ended in a dome-shaped ceiling. Books lined the walls and surrounded three large tables set up the middle. It was beautiful, but Viggo felt lost among all the books. He’d never really enjoyed the library back home either.

The room led off into a walled patio which contained a large fountain, which when Viggo stepped closer to see, he spotted Brad and Angelina on the other side of it. From the looks of it, the two were fighting if Brad’s grim expression and Angelina’s angry gesturing were any clues.

He moved closer, making sure not to be caught as he tried to hear what they were saying. Brad said something quietly enough that he couldn’t pick up and Angelina looked confused for a moment, her anger still present on her face.

“Just because you don’t care anything about him doesn’t mean I don’t. He has every right to be involved in those talks, just as you do. Just what do you honestly think of our visitors?” Angelina hissed, her eyes narrowing.

“You have no say in this,” Brad growled. He continued talking but lowered his voice so Viggo lost track of what he was saying.

“Yes, I do. I am no commoner, don't assume you can pacify me the way you do with the rest of your subjects. I am not blind or stupid, you shouldn't forget that.” Angelina said.

A moment later, he could see Brad say something to her before stomping off, looking quite angry. He watched as Angelina watched after her brother sadly for a few seconds and then turn and head into the library. She turned to go around the fountain and nearly ran into Viggo, who held her arm to keep her from falling.

She looked up, her eyes narrowing slightly suspiciously, “Viggo, what are you doing out here?”

Viggo shrugged, honestly not knowing, “I don’t know really. I got lost a few times before I found myself here.”

Angelina laughed, amused, “I should have sent someone to give you and your brothers a tour of the palace. It can get quite confusing if you’ve never been here before.”

Viggo looked over Angelina and smiled. With her cloak off, she looked ever more beautiful. She wore a long, deep purple tunic that was secured over one shoulder and Viggo’s eyes roamed to her upper arm where she wore a golden snake bracelet. Her hair had been taken down, letting her curls loose.

She was definitely beautiful, Viggo couldn’t deny that. In fact, if he wasn’t waiting to see what Orlando looked like and possibly pursuing him, he would’ve tried to take things further with Angelina. She looked to be just as interested in him as well.

“Karl said Colin was going to give him a tour and I wouldn’t be surprised if Brad showed Sean around,” Viggo said, pausing for a moment, uncertainly, worried he might upset Angelina, but curiosity driving him on, “Is something wrong between you and Brad?”

Angelina tilted her head in confusion before realization hit her and she smiled slightly, “Oh, you saw my exchange just now with him? We may be siblings but I’m afraid we’ve never been the best of friends. He’s set in his own way and so am I, so we tend to fight a lot. He’s rather….pig headed on certain issues and tends to think he’s right over everything. It gets a little frustrating at times. I’m sorry you had to see…our bad sides, if you wish to call it that.”

Viggo was certain he hadn’t upset Angelina by asking about her and Brad. She seemed used to explaining about her brother’s ways to people. He had to admire her for not letting their fights upset her. He had certainly done the exact opposite with Sean on their way to Boeotia.

“Nothing I haven’t seen before. I have more than enough of my fights with my two brothers. My sisters mostly keep to themselves so we never really fight,” Viggo explained.

“You’re not close to your sisters?” Angelina asked.

Viggo shrugged, “Not really. I mean, they’re my sisters and I love them, but we don’t have much in common and they’re usually huddled away by themselves most of the time. I spend most of my time with Sean or Karl.”

“I sometimes wished for a sister, but my mother died when I was very young and since my father never really took an interest in anyone else, it was just Brad and I,” Angelina said, sounding wistful.

Viggo nodded, grinning suddenly, “You know, if my brothers are getting tours of the palace, then so should I, it seems only fair,”

Angelina smirked, shaking her head in disbelief, “You just never give up, do you? I’ll give you a tour if you promise to behave yourself.”

Viggo held his hands up in surrender, giving her the most innocent look he could manage, “I promise to behave myself and act like a proper gentleman.”

Viggo planned to keep his promise of acting like a gentleman. He respected Angelina because he hadn’t seen many types like her. She was strong willed and as it seemed, very stubborn. She didn’t let the overpowering male figures get the best of her.

He certainly wouldn’t try to seduce her, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have a little fun with her.

“All right. Let’s get started then,” she said, gesturing around them at the library, “This is obviously the library. Not too many people in the palace have the time to come here, except for maybe Orlando.”

“Why doesn’t he join in on the meetings for the peace treaty?” Viggo asked.

Angelina paused for a moment, “He’s never really been that much into diplomatic issues. He prefers Brad to take care of anything to do with the country.”

Viggo stared at her for a moment, certain she wasn’t telling the truth, but he decided not to push it, “That’s understandable. I know I feel the same way; I like Sean to take over most times too. He's heir to the throne anyway and a much better dipolmat than I could ever hope to be,”

Angelina smiled slightly, “Let’s continue on our tour, shall we?”

She didn’t wait for an answer as she headed out of the library, glancing over her shoulder to make sure Viggo was following before turning down another corridor.

***~~~***

The dinner had arrived sooner than anyone had realized. Between the peace talks, the tours, and generally getting to know everyone, time had flown by since the three brothers had arrived in Boeotia earlier that day. They were only there for two weeks, so everything had to be done at a fast pace.

After getting dressed appropriately for the dinner, they were shown to the dining room by Angelina, who sat herself in between Viggo and Colin near the head of the table. Of course, the two head seats, made to look like miniature thrones, were reserved for the emperor and his husband, who were late as it seemed.

It was a fairly small affair, with only a few of the most important people attending. Viggo, Sean, and Karl sat at one end, Angelina, Colin, and a man that Brad had introduced to them earlier simply as his ‘right hand man’, Marton, were seated at another end, offering only a careless nod to each of the princes in greeting.

Marton looked to be a few years older than Brad, his appearance not as well tended as Brad’s, looking rather wild in his appearance, but not unattractive. This was a man clearly in the prime of his life and comfortable in his place in life, along with the inate confidence that could only come from aristocratic breeding and long held positions of power. It was immediately clear that Marton was a man who answered and apologized to no one, possibly save his king. The man was well built and tall, although not the warrior build that Brad possessed and his long dark hair, and dark eyes when coupled with a seemingly permanent small smirk gave him a rather foreboding appearance. All in all, he seemed oddly out of place among Angelina and Colin but exactly how none could say.

Viggo hadn’t been too fond of the man since Brad introduced him to the three brothers. Marton seemed a bit standoffish and acted as if he was forcing himself to be pleasant to the guests. After the initial greeting, he hadn’t said one word to the brothers.

At the table, he mostly ignored the guests, speaking to them only when one of them directly asked him a question. He usually kept to himself or talked to Colin and Angelina, even though she tended to ignore him.

She had warned Viggo of how Marton was before Viggo met him, and as it appeared, she was right about his standoff-ish and apparent rude tendencies towards guests.

Besides the small group sitting at the table, only a few servants were wandering around, asking if each guest needed anything and making sure they each had a goblet filled with Boeotia’s famous wine.

They made small talk until the actual dinner started, mostly consisting of the brothers asking questions about the country and its people and sights while Colin and Angelina answering most of them. Marton fielded questions about Boeotia’s army, having run the army for many years, but for the most part, listened to what everyone was saying, looking bored.

Karl and Sean looked mostly interested as Marton explained the fine points of Boeotia’s army and how it could easily beat any other army in the world. They seemed a bit worried about the last part, but still listened intently as Colin added in various parts Marton seemed to forget.

Viggo listened, but his mind often wondered as he tried to pay attention to the mindless drabbles coming out of Marton’s mouth. The man was clearly one of military breeding and thus held no interest to Viggo. He never understood why so many men were ready to fight at the merest provocation when they could spend their time indulging in the pleasure of the flesh instead. He had a minor problem sitting beside Sean, as they still hadn’t apologized to each other and or even made an attempt to talk and Viggo certainly wasn’t going to be the one who apologized first. How dare his own brother practically call him a whore?

They were interrupted when the servants moved out of the room. Viggo looked up in confusion of why they had left when he spotted Brad entering the room, Orlando by his side, as usual. As was customary, the guests stood to welcome the couple as they crossed the room.

Viggo almost fell off his chair as Brad shifted and he got a full view of Orlando. He was sure the others could tell his jaw was on the ground, but he didn’t care. At least now he knew the rumors of Orlando’s beauty was true.

He noticed Karl and Sean’s incredulous looks in his direction, but even they looked a little awed. Neither of them had seen the man either and they were quite surprised with the prince’s looks but they quickly looked away, reminding themselves of David and Jake. They might admire Orlando’s beauty – how could they not, but the love they bore their chosen partners made them equally beautiful in the brothers eyes, and with memories of their loved ones, Karl and Sean quickly and easily recovered from their shock of seeing Orlando. Viggo on the other hand had no such ability.

Angelina watched Viggo, amused. She knew the man would easily be impressed by her brother-in-law’s beauty, as was every other person ever to see. Even she had been impressed when she had first seen Orlando. She had to give her brother credit; he’d always said he was going to have something someone else always wanted and he turned out to be right.

The young man had inky black curls that fell around his face and incredable dark eyes that locked with Viggo’s for a second, a curious look on his face, before moving back to his husband. He was dressed in a long, royal blue robe that covered him way more than Viggo preferred and several gold, jeweled bracelets lined his wrists. A small, simple sliver circlet rested atop his head, glimering like moonlight in his soft curls, while Brad wore a larger and slightly more ornate gold crown that seemed to match the shade of his hair. It was a huge difference from what Viggo had seen of him earlier that day. Orlando was a prince and now he certainly looked like one.

Viggo had thought he didn’t look or act like a prince when he had seen the man at the port earlier in the day. He wore nothing to indicate he was a prince and acted very shy and quiet, and frankly quite unlike any royalty Viggo had ever met.

Viggo found Orlando’s sudden air of confidence and foreign beauty appealing. His mind momentarily remembered Orlando was originally from Palthia in between admiring the beauty. He didn’t appear the type of royalty that were stuck up and wanted nothing to do with their country’s people. The people of Boeotia seemed to truly love Orlando and Viggo like that he was a real person rather than some untouchable myth.

Brad led Orlando over to the head of the table and then turned, smiling at his guests, “This dinner is being held to welcome our guests, the princes of Boeotia.”

Orlando simply smiled slightly, not having anything to add as he and Brad sat down, the guests following their example.

Brad held up his chalice in a toast and waited until everyone seated had done the same before taking a gulp of the rich wine. He set the chalice down and leaned down, kissing Orlando soundly, pulling Orlando tightly against his body.

Orlando immediately melded himself against Brad, tilting his head up to accept Brad’s kiss. He rested his hands on Brad’s arms, which were wrapped around his waist. The kiss ended fairly quickly and when Brad pulled back, he smiled fondly at Orlando, who was smiling slightly himself.

Karl and Sean smiled at the display, wishing they could be doing the same thing with their significant others back home. Colin had told them about Brad and Orlando’s usual displays of affection in public, but by the look Viggo had on his face, they guessed he hadn’t been told yet.

Colin nudged Angelina and she leaned over, placing her lips directly beside Viggo’s ear, “They always do this. Now you know why they’re the most loved couple in the country.”

Viggo couldn’t understand why the action had made him feel suddenly angry and jealous. He had expected seeing Brad and Orlando together, and should’ve expected some level of affection between the two, but after seeing Orlando and what he looked like, he wanted the younger man for himself. He didn’t care if it sounded selfish to himself or anyone else, but he wanted Orlando, whether or not he was married. He pushed aside the warning Sean had given him aboard the ship. It would be worth the risk he decided.

He wanted the chance to bed the beauty just once to be able boast that he had indeed sampled the charms of the legendary ‘Bloom of Boeotia’. Of course, he would like to have Orlando for more than once night, but he willing to settle for what he get at this point.

“We are honoured to have been allowed to visit your country. I’m confident the peace treaty will be a great achievement for both of our countries,” Sean responded, making sure to direct the comment at both Brad and Orlando, as they were both part of the royal couple even though Orlando hadn’t been present for any of their discussions, which Sean found slightly odd. Brad had told him Orlando had other business to attend to with Colin, even though he had seen Colin giving Karl a tour of the palace.

Brad nodded while Orlando remained neutral, watching Sean, “I am sure it will. I’m glad we could do this person. It’s amazing how many leaders of countries know of each other, yet never meet.”

Orlando nodded in agreement, taking a small sip of his wine as Brad rested a hand on his thigh, wrapping his fingers around Orlando’s hand, which rested there. Orlando squeezed Brad’s hand softly, a soft satisfying smile of his face.

The servants brought out several platters of food, mostly consisting of various breads, cheeses, and meat, and set them around the table within easy reach of all the guests, along with a dessert Angelina could only describe as chocolate and strawberries.

Everyone reached for the foods, getting each type of it, except Orlando, who took a little of everything except for the meats. The brothers were hungry, having not eaten since early that morning.

Karl was reluctant about eating, not having had much to eat even while he was on the ship. After being seasick the entire trip, he hadn’t eaten much and this was his first real meal in a long time.

Sean and Viggo, on the other hand, were starving and immediately reached for the food, much to the amusement of Brad.

From that point on, Brad made sure to keep all diplomatic talk away from the table and made an announcement to his guests of his wish, which they respected. He wanted to make sure his guests still had fun while also negotiating a peace treaty.

Viggo engaged himself in a conversation with Brad, but noticed the man had an arm wrapped around Orlando the entire time, something Orlando didn‘t seem to mind at all. Viggo found himself annoyed once more at the seemingly perfect couple. Why couldn’t they be like other royal couples, polite and distant to each other. He’d expected to find Orlando as a bored and pampered pretty consort with a fat and aging husband whom he could easily seduce into his arms with promises of eternal love or some such rubbish. Instead he found Brad to be young, attractive and very attentive to his husband and Orlando not nearly as vacuous or spoilt as he’d first presumed and half hoped add to that the genuine affection and love that played between the royal couple only made him more determined. After all, he loved a challenge. Yes this was truly be a challenge and he never backed down from a challenge.

Orlando wasn’t paying any attention to them as he talked to Angelina and Colin beside him, which Viggo thought might have been about Orlando‘s family. He seemed to be close with Colin and Angelina though, much more than Marton, who was watching them talk silently. Viggo’s attention kept wavering on Brad as he snuck glances at Orlando, who didn’t seem to realize he was being watched.

Brad noticed Viggo’s glances at his husband and his eyes narrowed, wondering if Viggo was just trying to keep with their conversation as well as his own, or if it was something more. He decided to drop the thought, giving Viggo the benefit of the doubt, but still keeping an eye on him.

“I understand Angelina gave you a tour earlier. I hope you can actually find where you’re going without getting lost anymore?” Brad asked, smirking playfully.

Viggo grinned, taking a sip of wine, “Yes, she was very thorough, although we only got through the inside of the palace before dinner. I don’t dare step outside for the fear of never returning.”

Brad laughed, liking Viggo‘s sense of humor, “I really should have put up a map somewhere in the palace. I still remember Orlando’s first time here. He got lost more times than I can count. He’s definitely gotten better in ten years.”

“Maybe if he would’ve given me a tour ten years ago, I wouldn’t have gotten lost,” Orlando teased, giving a sidelong glance at Brad before looking back to Viggo.

Brad laughed, laying a kiss on Orlando’s forehead, “I did and so did Angelina and Colin. That’s three times, Orlando, and you still kept getting lost. We finally left you alone to find your own way and you did, only if it took two years. Eight years later and you’re navigating the palace like a pro.”

“Ten years? You must have married Orlando young,” Viggo said surprised, “I didn’t think you two had been married that long.” He locked eyes with Orlando, who had looked up at the mention of his name, waiting for Viggo to continue.

“I did. He was fifteen at the time. It may seem a little clichéd, but the first time I saw him, I knew he was the one,” Brad answered, taking a bite out of a piece of fruit and tightening his arm around Orlando, who was smiling as he leaned up to kiss Brad. “Are you married, Viggo?”

“No, I am not,” Viggo replied, giving a fake smile and ignoring Karl’s choked laughter and elbowing him in the ribs. “It’s currently just Sean who’s married, much to the disappointment of our parents. I think they long to have more grandchildren.”

“Sean told me you have two sisters. Any hope of them getting married to produce more grandchildren?” Brad asked.

Viggo smirked, shaking his head, “Are you kidding me? Keira and Miranda? I think our parents may have to resort to an arranged marriage for both of them. Our parents like to give us a chance to find someone and if we don’t, that’s when they set up an arranged marriage.”

“It’s a good idea to let you find your own mate,” Brad said, gesturing to Orlando, “Ours was wasn't exactly arranged. I had to go through his father and brother first and I can tell you that took a lot of persuation, but in a way, we did pick each other and I couldn't have chosen a better partner,” he grined as he kissed Orlando's hand.

Viggo nodded as he tried to push down his overwhelming irratation and jealousy, glancing over at Angelina and Colin, “Are you two married?”

Angelina laughed, leaning back in her chair, “Not to each other and not to anyone else, we wouldn’t be suited at all,”

“I know why Angelina isn’t married. If she got married, she’d probably kill her husband over the smallest thing or fight constantly,” Colin teased, earning a light smack from Angelina, “I haven’t gotten married because I just haven’t found the right person yet and I’m not willing to settle for less,”

“Actually, I don’t think I’d have time for a husband,” Angelina said, swirling the wine in her chalice, “I wouldn’t have the time to…properly please him as he would probably like. I wouldn’t want to disappoint someone like that.”

Marton smirked, leering at Angelina, “But we all know that a husband’s rights can take over his wife or husband’s wants don’t we? Is it not after all the spouse’s duty to… satisfy, surely as princes and princesses we all know what the law expects of us in marriage, hmmm?” the man leaded back with an easy smirk as he downed the last of his wine in a single gulp.

The three brothers paused in their meals, looking up at Marton in shock, while Angelina’s eyes flashed dangerously although her face remained passive. Colin’s jaw tightened as he gripped his fork tighter, although he kept his head down. Viggo made mental notes of the two’s reactions. Interesting. Clearly they bore this Marton no affection. Perhaps Marton was the truly dangerous one here, not Brad. The man made him extremely uneasy. They were something about him that warned Viggo to stay far away. He was disgusted by what Marton had just insinuated. To enjoy copulating was one thing and nothing to be ashamed of, but use of force, or indeed rape was another matter entirely. He might be a seducer and a heart-breaker he was willing to admit that but he always made sure his partners were willing. The idea of using force, to Viggo, was repugnant.

Viggo glanced over at Orlando and Brad, noticing Brad seemed fairly unconcerned with what Marton had just said, but Orlando was tense, looking uncomfortable. He wondered what had made the suddenly relaxed Orlando so rigid. He immediately vowed to watch Marton carefully whenever he was near the man, not trusting him whatsoever.

Brad smiled slightly, having missed the exchange between the two brothers, “You don’t know what you’re missing. Sean told me he was married and I believe had a newborn son?”

“Yes a three-month-old named Richard,” Karl intervened, smiling, “He is absolutely adorable. It feels great to be an uncle for the first time. Have you ever thought about having any children with Orlando?”

Brad looked up warily, his arm around Orlando unconsciously moving lower as he hand mindlessly went to Orlando’s flat stomach.

Viggo saw Orlando pause in mid-sentence with Sean and stiffen, which he thought was pretty odd. He knew something off was definitely going on. He thought Orlando and Sean had been talking about the marketplace, if he wasn’t mistaken, which wouldn‘t be the cause of the reaction Orlando had shown.

Sean glanced sharply at Karl after seeing Orlando’s reaction and hoped Karl didn’t continue with the discussion. He looked over at Angelina and Colin and saw they both were glancing at Orlando, worry evident on their face. Marton, however, seemed unaffected as he drank slowly from his wine, his dark eyes not leaving Brad or Orlando.

“He was pregnant three years ago, but he sadly miscarried,” Brad answered shortly, sounding almost mad as he glanced quickly at Orlando, who suddenly found his plate very interesting. He looked sad, but there was another expression there that Sean couldn‘t identify. Clearly that line of discussion was off bounds.

Sean looked over at Karl and saw the guilt written all over his face before he looked over at Brad, trying to change the subject, “Brad, why don’t you fill everyone in on the talks we started earlier about the peace treaty. None of them were present and I think they would like to know what we discussed.”

Brad removed his arm from around Orlando, which the younger man didn’t seem to be happy about and listened to Brad inform the others about the treaty. He kept his head down the rest of the meal, biting his lower lip as he listened to the conversation around him.

Before long, the group had finished their dinner and, since it was getting late, the brothers excused themselves to get some well-needed sleep.

Viggo followed his brothers up to the second floor where their rooms where, Orlando still on his mind. He hadn’t believed the rumors of the man’s beauty, but after seeing Orlando in person and without a hood covering his face, he knew those rumors were now true. The almost delicate and pure beauty Orlando possessed was rare in any country and Viggo wanted to sample that beauty. He wanted Orlando for himself and to tell people he had bedded the beauty. He was a little disappointed that the rumors were true. He was hoping Orlando wouldn’t possess that beauty so he wouldn’t be tempted. He wanted a chance to pursue him, but he was married to Brad. He really didn’t care if Orlando was married; he’d slept with married men and women before.

He caught movement out of the corner of his eye and turned to see Orlando come up the stairs and head into a room on the other wide of the corridor. Viggo was certain he was alone and that Brad was still downstairs, talking to Marton and Colin.

Angelina had been the first one to excuse herself from the dinner, not saying where she was going and Brad hadn’t asked, knowing not to question her. He knew she wouldn’t give a straight answer anyway.

Orlando had been the next one to leave, kissing Brad goodnight before he wandered off, probably to the library, Viggo assumed.

Viggo made sure his brothers were in their rooms, the doors shut, before he looked back towards the room Orlando had entered. He thought for a brief second before making a decision he couldn’t back out of. It was now or never if he ever wanted to seduce Orlando. He no longer seemed to care what Sean or Brad would do to him if they found out.

He headed down a few doors before he came to the one Orlando had gone into. He opened the door slowly, and poked his head in, not seeing any sign of Orlando. He fully stepped in and looked around.

The room looked much like the one he had been put in, but this one was decorated in more earthy tones, as opposed to the gold tones his room seemed to be covered in. The deep green curtains had been closed, blowing open slightly from the still present winds outside, leaving only a few scattered candles to dimly light the room.

A large bed was against one wall, across from a desk, which Viggo noticed was covered with books, and by the look of it, journals. He stared at them for a moment before shaking his head; the journals were Orlando’s property and he had no business reading them.

He continued scanning the room, realizing he was in Orlando’s bedroom. Well, he was certainly in the right place to seduce the young man, but something was wrong. He had been in his father’s room enough to know what a master bedroom looked like and this certainly wasn’t one. It was large, but not large enough to be a master bedroom. He didn’t intend to end up in a bedroom just yet, but he wasn’t complaining.

He thought Orlando had left when he wasn’t looking until he heard rustling sounds from a small room connected to the bedroom. He turned just in time to see Orlando emerge from the room, having changed into a long, dark robe, open in the front to show he only wore a pair of shortened pants underneath, leaving his chest bare with the exception of a simple stone necklace around his neck.

Viggo knew he was disturbing Orlando in his own bedroom, but the sooner he got acquainted with Orlando, the sooner he could try to seduce him. He couldn’t help but stare at Orlando as the young man emerged from the smaller room and he knew he should leave, but his feet seemed to be glued to the floor.

Orlando looked up and stopped in his tracks, his lips parting to say something, but snapping closed once more. He tilted his head to the side, watching Viggo suspiciously. He pulled his robe closed at record speed, which left Viggo greatly disappointed as he had seen just a sliver of skin before it disappeared. Orlando didn’t look mad, but he certainly looked confused as to why Viggo was there.

Viggo smiled at him, a little disappointed when Orlando still stood there, looking at the other man blankly.

“Hello, Orlando,” Viggo said casually, leaning against the wall, looking at Orlando with a smirk on his face.

Orlando raised his eyebrows in confusion, watching Viggo carefully, “Viggo, is it?” He paused at Viggo’s nod, “What are you doing here?”

“I just wanted to talk to you. I couldn’t help but notice how quiet you were at dinner and I just felt like we hadn’t really gotten to know each other as well as I know Brad and the others,” Viggo explained, stepping closer to Orlando, admiring how the candlelight made Orlando’s tanned skin glow and his dark eyes sparkled.

Orlando sighed, seeing the desire and lust in Viggo’s eyes. He thought this time around someone would visit that would see him as just another person and not the rumored ’Bloom of Boeotia’, but it looked like Viggo was just another one that couldn’t be trusted.

“Surely this is not so urgent that it could not wait until tomorrow?” Orlando asked, flatly, having dealt with this too many times already. Just for once, would it be too much to ask that visitors and dignitaries treated him as a fellow human being. Why did they all have to be so predictable? He’d heard the nickname that had been coined for him and would cheerfully throttle the person who came up with that ridiculous name.

Viggo’s eyebrows knitted in confusion before he grinned seductively, “I came all this way from Dione, where rumors have been swirling about the legendary ‘Bloom of Boeotia’. I have to confess I was extremely skeptical about the validity of them, but now I can honestly say those rumors are not only true, they have clearly surpassed themselves, they do you little justice.”

“What did you come here for?” Orlando asked, exasperated. He was pretty sure he knew exactly what Viggo wanted, but he decided to give the man one chance to prove him wrong.

“You are the most beautiful person alive. I have never seen anyone who has ever compared to your beauty, lovely one,” Viggo said softly, his eyes moving to Orlando’s full lips.

He moved even closer to Orlando, reaching a hand out slowly to move an errant curl out of Orlando’s face. He trailed the hand down Orlando’s cheek and over his shoulder and neck, trying to move it below Orlando’s robe, but Orlando smacked his hand away hard, stepping away, already looking upset.

“Don’t,” Orlando said sharply.

Viggo smiled slightly at the beauty’s defiance, expecting Orlando to fight back. He knew it wasn’t going to be easy, especially when it looked like Orlando and Brad truly loved each other. He’d had more than a few lovers who rejected him before finally coming around. He grinned and moved towards him once more, “You can’t tell me you don’t want this.”

“Yes, I can tell you I don’t want this and I don’t want you! Listen, I know you are clearly used to people simply falling into your arms and used to sleeping with anyone you like, but I am no whore, who you can touch or bed at whim. I am not some prize you can simply win,” Orlando said, furious Viggo would try anything with him.

“I am not going to hide the fact that I want to sleep with you,” Viggo purred, getting uncomfortably close to Orlando, “Just think, if you gave me just one night, I’d make sure that you wouldn’t be walking straight for a week. And I think I know how to use that pretty mouth of yours.”

Orlando stepped away from him, his nose wrinkled up in disgust, “Why don’t you try to act like the prince you claim to be? Don't princes have a code of conduct they should follow? You’re already endangering the negotiations and the treaty by being in here.”

Viggo didn’t take the hint and stepped over to Orlando once more, “The negotiations aren’t in danger if no one finds out.”

He leaned down, trying to kiss Orlando, but the younger man pushed him away roughly, his eyes narrowing at Viggo.

“In case you haven’t figured it out already from your stay here, I am happily married to Brad. I love my husband, and be warned, I won’t hesitate to yell for him if you try anything,” Orlando threatened, glaring at the older man in front of him.

“If you love your husband so dearly, then why are you not in your joint bedroom waiting for him?” Viggo asked mockingly.

Orlando looked taken aback for a moment before he regained his composure stared at Viggo defiantly, “I do not have to explain anything to you! How dare you come in here when my husband is merely a few feet away. He would kill you for even looking at me wrong”

Viggo smiled at threat and reached for Orlando, wrapping an arm around Orlando’s waist, but the man pushed him away roughly once more.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t see how anyone can refuse you,” Viggo said truthfully, not bothered by Orlando‘s behavior at all, his eyes roaming Orlando’s body; He quite enjoyed getting Orlando all hot and bothered.

Orlando closed his eyes, trying to calm himself, but failed as his anger at Viggo seemed to multiply by the second, “What do I have to do to get you to leave me alone?”

“Sleep with me,” Viggo answered immediately, grinning when Orlando’s eyes shot open, shooting Viggo with a dark glare.

“You should learn how to take 'no' for an answer. I get the feeling you’ll be hearing it a lot more,” Orlando said, sounding bored and uninterested.

“I don’t know the meaning of no, I promise you, you won't regret it. No man or woman has ever left my arms unsatisified, so I have no use of the word,” Viggo said cockily, turning a seductive look on Orlando once more.

“You’d better learn it quickly then, because I warn you, if you ever try anything like this again, I will personally make sure you will be ordered to leave Boeotia immediately and that wouldn’t look too good for the peace treaty, and I doubt your siblings will be too happy at that,” Orlando hissed angrily, turning on his heel and leaving the room.

Viggo sighed deeply and watched Orlando leave the room. He knew not to follow the younger man, if he knew what was good for him. The man was probably going off to find his husband.

Viggo was a little mad how Orlando turned down his advances every time. He hadn’t expected it to be easy to seduce Orlando, but it turned out to be a disaster. Orlando had a lot more fight in him than Viggo had originally thought. The young man proved to have quite a stubborn streak in him.

Viggo headed out of the room and back to his own, not seeing Orlando anywhere. His first chance to seduce the prince hadn’t gone as well as he had hoped. He just prayed Orlando didn’t say anything to Brad or, even worse, Sean. He knew Brad was very protective of Orlando, just by the way he had acted at dinner and might kill him for touching his husband, but Sean would likely do something even worse, if that was possible.

Viggo slipped into his room and shed his fancy robes before climbing into the tall bed, maneuvering himself so he could see out of the window. He could just barely make out the marketplace from his position in the bed.

He couldn’t help thinking about what Sean had told him on the ship. He loved and deeply respected Sean and his father, but his want to seduce Orlando seemed to put the warning at the back of his mind, much to his surprise. He had never wanted anyone as much as he wanted Orlando. Orlando. That was all he could seem to think about recently.

He wondered how he should go about seeing Orlando next. He had been occasionally rejected before, but it had never turned out as badly as it had with Orlando. He had simply planned to throw a few of his best lines at Orlando and expected to bed him right away. He was upset it hadn‘t worked as he planned it, but as he was learning, Orlando wasn‘t one to do something as expected.

He still wanted the man, despite how the night had turned out. Being denied what he wanted made him want it more, but the tactics he was using obviously didn’t work. He thought maybe trying something a little more subtle, which he wasn‘t used to at all. The next time around, he planned to lay off trying to seduce Orlando and simply try to get to know him, try to find out what he liked, that should make his task easier. It might work a lot better than what I had tried earlier, he thought.

He guessed Orlando was the type that liked to be romanced, but he also had the problem of Brad. Separating them would be harder than it looked though. From what Orlando had said and how he acted, he truly seemed to be in love with Brad, the man was practically glued to his side, which surprised Viggo. He thought the two of them wouldn‘t have loved each other as much, being the result of an arranged marriage.

He knew he should probably feel guilty about seducing a married man, but that wasn’t going to stop Viggo. As a prince, he was used to getting what he wanted, and this situation would be no different. He wouldn’t stop until he had Orlando in his arms, which he thought may prove harder than it looked.

GREAT story, beautifully written! Ever since Mea Culpa, I have been a fan of your writings. I'm sorry I haven't reviewed or posted much, I'm more of a lurker (I visit your website).

Man, Viggo is really annoying me right now! After Sean's talk, he still doesn't realize his actions have consequences, does he? Doesn't he care? I just hope that he begins to change. I really like how you can tell from the dinner that not everything is what it seems and how there are LOTS of problems and potential dangers beneath the surfance.

I have thought though. I was thinking that since the story is during when Troy was taking place, the characters' names can be more...suitable during the time period. I know how hard it to come up with names out of the blue. When I used to play with Barbie dolls I had a hard time making up creative names (corny I know, probably not even the same thing as writting). I can only imagine the diffucultly of coming up with period names. It's just a thought, and I'm fine with you using the characters' real name. As amazing a writter as you are I feel werid giving you my opinion.

Well, this was long. I like how often you update and I'm looking forward to more!

Good god, no wonder Viggo's "method" didn't work! He's so creepy! *shudders convulsively* A single person would be scared off by someone coming on that strong and that forcefully.

I feel for Orlando. True, it seems that there's something amiss in his and Brad's marriage, but Viggo's so... superficial and shallow. I applaud Orlando slapping him away, though I think he deserves more than that! Viggo needs to learn a lesson - the hard way. Keep it up, Orli!
