Testing the Water
Sean sighed as he stumbled through the door. His head hurt, his ribs and back were killing him, hell, even his knee was throbbing. Thinking back on what happened he realized it was really his own fault, after all no one had ‘asked’ him to jump in to the brawl but eight against one was not a fair fight in Sean’s book. Quietly slipping into the shower to remove the night’s filth he smiled at the thought of how good it would feel to slip into the nice soft bed and have the warmth of Orli or Viggo against him. He stepped out of the shower and dried himself before slipping into a pair of sleep pants and a t-shirt and quietly walking into the bedroom. His breath caught in his throat and his heart tried to pound out of his chest when he saw Orli and Viggo lying together, nude and looking sated even in their sleep. Slipping out of the room as quietly as he had entered he walked back downstairs and sat on the sofa. Why was this affecting him so much? Yes he loved both of them but not like that, did he? He did the only thing someone in his position could do, put his head in his hands and tried to will it all away, which is exactly the way Viggo found him the next morning.
“Sean?” he asked worriedly as he saw him hunched over on the sofa. Sean’s head snapped up and he looked all the world like a deer caught in headlights; spooked and afraid. “Are you alright?” he asked as he sat down beside him.
“Huh? Yeah, fine.” He could tell Viggo wasn’t buying it. “I just had sort of a bad night that’s all.” He forced a smile on his face.
“Wanna talk about it?”
“No,” came too quickly and too sharp. “I’m sorry,” he sighed and ran his hands through his hair, “I’m fine. I just had a bit too much to drink last night.”
Viggo knew he wasn’t telling him the truth but he also knew he couldn’t push Sean into telling him so he nodded. “Want some breakfast?”
“Sure,” he smiled, glad for the change in topic. “Can I help?”
Viggo stood and pulled Sean to his feet, his wince not going unnoticed though Viggo didn’t say anything. “Sure, coffee and toast are yours,” he laughed as they went into the kitchen.
Not wanting him to know he had seen them last night, he asked “How is Orli this morning?” He noticed Viggo’s back stiffen a little. “He was so upset when I left,” he added quickly and his friend seemed to relax.
“He calmed down after you left. We talked about things and I think we have come to an understanding,” he smiled.
Sean couldn’t help but smile along with him. “Yeah and what was that?”
“That I love him,” he poured the eggs in to a skillet, “and that he’s mine.”
The possessiveness in his voice shocked Sean but he was happy for them both. “Yours, huh?” he teased “and how did he like being ‘yours’?” The hint in the question was not well hidden but they were best friends so such things were normal conversation.
Viggo looked at him for a minute then smiled happily, “Oh, I say he was pretty happy about it.” He blushed a little at Sean’s look knowing full well he wanted more information on the subject. “Fine, you nosey bastard,” he teased. “It was wonderful! I was so worried he’d have a bad reaction to my touches but he didn’t and,” he paused, voice softer, “I was his first.” Anger crossed his face just after he said it. “I should have been his first,” he growled, tears of anger filling his eyes.
Sean pulled him into a calming hug. “You were his first, Viggo. What those bastards did to him does not count in any way.” Then the words hit Sean like a ton of bricks making what happened to Orlando even worse. His arms went slack about Viggo and he stepped back. Viggo looked up at him, as he knew Sean just realized what he’d said. “He’d, he’d never been with a man before?”
“No,” he answered sadly, mixing the eggs as a distraction.
He’d never been with a man before himself but he knew it was suppose to be painful at first. That it could be brutal if not done right and Lord knows the bastards had taken no care in what they had done. It was a miracle that Orlando ever let Viggo touch him, that he would let anyone touch him for that matter. The rest of breakfast was finished in silence.
They had just finished putting the food on the table and Viggo was turning to go get Orli when he nearly walked into him. He was dressed only in his boxers and had tears in his eyes. “Angel, what’s wrong?”
He felt so stupid that he was crying and so frightened but he couldn’t help it. “I woke up and you were gone,” soft voice trembling. “I…I thought you’d left.”
His heart broke as the tears finally fell from Orli’s eyes. Pulling him in to his arms, “ Angel, I’m so sorry. I just came down to fix breakfast. I thought I would let you sleep in because you were so tired.” Lifting his chin, forcing him to look at him, “I would never leave you. Remember what I told you last night? I love you angel and from now on, you’re mine.” Leaning in he sealed that promise with a kiss that left his lover weak in the knees.
When the kiss finally broke and he pulled some much-needed air into his lungs he smiled, “yours.” Looking over he saw Sean sitting at the table looking decidedly uncomfortable. He walked over to him and sat down in his lap hugging him tight. “Where did you go last night?”
Sean moved so that he could accommodate his lap full of elf. “Went out for a beer.”
Upon closer inspection, which you always were on the receiving end of with Orli in your lap, he noticed the bruises just under Sean’s shirt. “That beer come complete with fists?”
“Nah, had to pay extra for those,” he smiled dismissively before swatting him softly on the backside. “Breakfast is getting cold.”
Orli whined like a scolded child and slipped out of his lap into his own chair as he muttered, “Bossy human.”
“Prissy elf,” was his reply. Everyone laughed and their meal was finished quickly.
After clearing the table and cleaning up Orli sat on the sofa and pouted. Sean sat down beside him, “I know what your thinking, love, but it’s not going to be that bad.”
“What if it is? What if it’s even worse?” his voice was in a panicked pitch and his breathing visibly quickening.
Viggo sat down on the other side of him, both men so close they were touching legs trying to make him feel safe and protected. “We are in my house Orli. He is coming here on your turf and Sean and I will both be right here even this close if you need it.”
Orli looked at Sean then back to Viggo, “Promise you won’t leave me alone with him, even if he says too?”
Sean leaned in and kissed his head, “Even Sauron and all the Orcs in the world could not make us leave your side, lad.”
Calming a bit he leaned against Viggo and put his legs over Sean. “Will I always be so scared of people?” sadly.
“I don’t think so,” Viggo smiled and kissed his neck. “It’s just going to take some time for you to learn to trust again, especially people you don’t know. That’s what Sean and I are here for.”
“That’s right. We will beat the shit out’a anyone who needs it,” Sean smiled.
Orli laughed at Sean’s enthusiasm, “You sound a little happy about that.”
Sean smiled broadly, “Hey who can blame a bloke if he likes a good ass kickin’?”
Viggo laughed, “Yes one who gets as many as he gives?” Orli laughed as well at the indignant look on Sean’s face.
“Watch it you bloody ranger or I’ll show you just what the Steward’s son can do with the horn of Gondor,” he growled teasingly.
“Is that a promise or a threat?” he asked evenly, leaving it an open-ended question to be taken either way.
Sean’s heart stopped as he tried to figure out exactly how he meant that and Orli had to bite back a moan at the thoughts that ran through his head. What was wrong with him? Maybe his mother was right, maybe he was bad because a whole book of bad thoughts just went through his mind at Viggo’s question and he pulled his knees up to his chest to hide the result of said thoughts.
Viggo smiled at both men’s reactions, happy to see Orli look decidedly happy and Sean confused. That meant he was considering how it was said which means that he had thought about it himself. Oh yes this just might be a good week after all, he smiled to himself.
