Summary: Pranks are played on the set and much fun is had, but what happens when someone lets a spur of the moment prank go too far?
Ch 1
Orlando, Dom, Billy and Elijah cringed as the swords and armor clanked
loudly to the ground. “Shit, Orli, are you ok?” Elijah asked as he helped him to his feet.
“No thanks to you bastards,” Orlando growled as he inspected
the scrapes on his arms. Surveying the mess on the floor of what was
supposed to be the Rohan Armory he sighed. “We’d better get this cleaned up before Peter and Fran kill us.”
“Oh, I’d say it was too late for that,” Peter said from behind
them. “Explain yourselves.”
“Pete, Fran,” Billy laughed nervously, “all’s well.”
“All’s well, my ass,” Fran said as she pushed past Peter and
inspected Orli’s bleeding arms. “How did this happen?” she demanded, as
Orli hissed at her touch.
The three hobbits gave each other mischievous looks. Orli had
played the last prank on them, putting jello in all their hobbit feet, so now it was time to get him back, and good. He had scenes coming up tomorrow where he would have to spend all day on horseback, and they would do all in their power to see to it that he would not be comfortable. They knew just what buttons to push with Peter, as well as with Viggo and Sean, who had already gotten on to Orlando about wanting to do too many dangerous stunts with the long knives, and for being careless with his own safety as of late. “Orli was chasing us around with his knives and he slipped,” Elijah said.
“Yeah, we dove out of the way and he fell flat on his bum sliding in to the wall, causing all of this,” Billy said, motioning to the stuff on the floor as he bit back a smile.
Orli’s eyes grew as wide as saucers and he started to yell,
but his protest was cut off by Peter’s tirade. “What the hell
are you thinking? That was beyond stupid, Orlando! You could have killed yourself or someone else!”
“But…” Orli tried to protest.
The frustrated director shook his head. He loved Orli like a son but he
could not have him bringing his recklessness on set and endangering others. Looking pointedly at him with all the frustration he could muster, he said disgustedly “You will pay for any damage caused to the set and the armor out of your own pocket! Now get off of my set until further notice!”
“Fran,” Orli said, panicked, as he took her hands into his own. “You have to…”
“No, Orlando,” she said sternly, cutting him off. “Go home.”
He glared at the hobbits before he left the room. The crew,
who had heard the commotion and the argument, were all staring and
whispering as he walked out, and his face flushed with embarrassment. He fought to control the tears stinging his eyes as he went to the makeup trailer. How could the hobbits let it go this far? A joke was one thing but this could get him fired. By the time his ears and wig had been removed and he was in street clothes again, his sadness had turned to anger. Oh, the hobbits would pay for this and pay dearly, but right now he just wanted to go home and take a hot bath to relieve some of the aches from his fall.
Normally he would talk things over with Viggo and Sean, but lately the only thing they had done was yell at him. It seemed like he couldn’t make anyone happy anymore. They had not been spending a lot of time with him lately and he had a feeling it was because of the gossip going around on the set. Sure, they said they had interviews and photo shoots they had to be at, but he really didn’t believe them. They were just sick of being around him and felt too sorry for him to say anything. Maybe Peter would fire him soon and get it over with. All this trying to prove his worth everyday was making him tired of living.
Ch 2
“I’ve got it!” Bean said, as he ran from the kitchen to get the ringing
phone. Viggo laughed and shook his head from behind his paper. ‘No more
extreme caffeine drinks for Sean when he isn’t working,’ he thought to
himself with a smile as he listened to his lover answer the phone. “Hello? Oh, hey, Dom, what’s…” his sentence was obviously cut short. “Was anyone hurt?” he asked, causing Viggo to quickly put his paper down and walk to his side. “Where is he now? No, I’m glad you called. If he’s hurt we need to know. Yeah, tell Pete we will make sure he spends his time off thinking about what he did. Uh huh,” he said as he hung up the phone.
“What the hell was that about?” Viggo asked, concerned.
Sean filled him in on what Dom had told him about the ‘incident.’ “I know he has been reckless lately, maybe even a little depressed, but why would he do something that stupid, Viggo?”
The other man shrugged. “Maybe it’s a cry for attention. We’ve been working like mad and when we do have downtime it seems like we’re off doing something without Orli. Besides, he’s been warned about doing reckless things, and I think chasing someone with long knives qualifies as reckless. He could have killed himself, Sean! If he had fallen differently he could have very well have landed on one of those damn knives and…” his throat constricted, forcing him to stop.
Sean hugged Viggo and tried to soothe him. “You’re right, we need to get to the bottom of this behavior, and I know just how to do it.”
“How?” Viggo asked, as he lifted his head to look at Sean.
“By getting to the bottom of something else.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Elijah, Dom and Billy were all sitting in their trailer laughing about the trouble they were getting Orli into, although they had no clue of its true severity. They knew about the relationship Viggo, Sean and Orli had - hell, the whole set knew - but it seemed like lately Orli had become the child instead of the equal. “I wonder what they are going to do to him?” Billy laughed.
“Bet he won’t be able to sit on Arod very well tomorrow,” Dom snickered.
Hugo, who had been listening outside the door, walked into the trailer.
“What are you three talking about?”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Orli fumbled with the lock, then pushed the door open with a loud curse as he hit his sore elbow on the door facing. He gave the offensive door a good, hard kick before slamming it closed. “Stupid fucking door!” Throwing his coat on the floor, he stomped into the den where he ran into the wall that was Viggo and Sean. “You will never believe what happened today!” he yelled, glad that he was finally going to be able to talk to someone about it, even if he wasn’t sure they cared.
“Oh?” Viggo asked as he crossed his arms.
“Maybe you should tell us,” Sean said with a glare.
Orli began getting an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach and decided that maybe now wasn’t such a good time to complain. “I really just want a shower and to lie down,” he said instead, trying to walk past them. Viggo blocked his path.
“I think we need to talk.”
“Why don’t you tell us what happened today, Orlando,” Sean said in an
accusatory tone.
Orli recoiled - he couldn’t believe this. “Why don’t you tell me, because I don’t have a fucking clue what you’re going on about!”
“That tone is unacceptable!”
“Fuck you!” he growled at Viggo.
Sean grabbed him hard by the arms. “That will not be tolerated, Orlando!”
Suddenly Orli realized why Sean had played so many villains; he was damned menacing! Lowering his head submissively, his words were barely above a whisper as he said, “I’m sorry.”
Sean heard Orli’s hiss, and saw him cringe as he let go of his arms. Upon further inspection he found the cuts and scrapes. “Some of these look pretty bad.”
“Ow!” Orli frowned and tried to pull away, only to run into Viggo.
“Come on,” Vig said as he led them down the hall and into the bathroom.
Sean turned the water on to get it warm while he helped Orli undress. “Are you hurt anywhere else?” he asked, being careful of the obvious cuts and scrapes on his arms and a nasty bruise on his side and hip.
It was like the day’s stress had been too much, and although he was still angry with the way they were acting toward him, it was like all the fight had been drained from him as his lover undressed him. “My hip hurts a bit,” he said meekly.
Viggo poked and prodded the bruise a bit, making Orli whine and squirm,
before kissing him on the head and helping him into the shower.
He was just about to close the shower door when Sean stopped him. “We need to clean those cuts.” Orli hissed as he poured peroxide on the abraded skin, and tried to squirm away. “Be still!” Sean scolded. He couldn’t help but think at that moment how childlike Orlando had been lately. Oh, he was a grown man in every way, but lately his lover had been acting differently. Sort of like when he and Viggo had first broken the wall around his heart and he had allowed them into his life. They knew then that Orli was special and would take very special care. Once his defenses were down he was vulnerable, almost fragile in a way, and needed a lot of guidance and love. Drawn back from his thoughts by another of Orli’s hisses, he smiled. “Alright already, I’m done. When you’ve finished your shower come into the bedroom.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Dom, Billy and Elijah all squirmed under Hugo’s intense interrogation. “You will not leave here until I get some answers! Ian told me there had been an accident and Orlando had been sent home. Is he okay?”
“For now,” Dom said under his breath, causing the other hobbits to laugh. Hugo nearly growled at their lack of respect for both himself and their fellow castmate.
Seeing the look on Hugo’s face and sensing their impending doom, Elijah
leaned closer to his friends and whispered, “I think we’re in trouble.”
Hugo leaned in closer to the huddled group. “I think you’re right!”
Standing straight with a posture Lord Elrond himself would have been
envious of, he snarled, “What did you do?”
“Nothing.” Dom fidgeted.
Hugo was losing patience. “This is your last chance to tell me or…”
“Or what?” Billy asked nervously.
“Or I will turn you over my knee and introduce your backsides to my belt!” Hugo roared.
“You wouldn’t dare!” Elijah cried, jumping to his feet.
“I wouldn’t?” Hugo asked, as he removed his belt with ease. Making a common mistake one would normally make while trying to flee for his life, Elijah tried to dart past the older man, but he easily grabbed the boy by the arm and swung the belt with a loud smack. Elijah ran around in a circle trying to escape the stinging blows of the strap. Hugo could have easily stopped the flailing around but he felt it added dramatic flare for the others to witness. “I can do this all night if I need to.”
“Okay! Okay!” Elijah cried. “We were racing through the set seeing who
could go into all the rooms on the Rohan set the fastest, and…” he
hesitated. Hugo swatted him with the belt again. “Ow! Dom pushed me, trying to make me mess up, and…”
“We didn’t know Orli was in there,” Dom pleaded. “He wasn’t supposed to be in there!”
Hugo lifted the belt again but didn’t have to follow through before Elijah started singing like a canary. “I ran into Orli and knocked him down hard. He managed to toss the knives away from us before we landed on them but he slid into the wall and all the swords and armor fell on him.”
“He wasn’t hurt so we thought we would have some fun with him, ya know?
Sort of a payback joke for the jello thing,” Billy said.
“We had no way of knowing Pete and Fran would be so mad at him,” Dom said. “By the time we realized they were going to flip out it was too late to stop it.”
“Come on,” Hugo said, dragging Elijah toward the door. “All of you!”
“Where are we going?” Billy asked nervously.
“You are going to tell Peter and Fran the truth, and then we are going to see Orlando so you can apologize!”
