Overall summary: A forbidden romance set in 1700’s Southern Carolina territory. A middle-aged magistrate, down on his luck and guilty from his previous acts in life, chances upon his next beautiful young clerk in a wretched almshouse. Against his better judgment Viggo brings the fair youth into his life. What has he done to himself? Worse yet, can Viggo control himself? Jealous guilt spreads her midnight wings and waits for her tormented chances.
Chapter 3 Summary: VO 1st POV. The watchful Viggo observes his new clerk’s interesting attitude toward life, which makes him feel old and bitter. But the thought of sharing a bed with the vibrant Orlando makes Viggo feel completely uncomfortable. Will he be able to resist Orlando’s youthful charms?
