“It can’t be that easy,” Viggo thought as he answered the phone. He didn’t need to look at the Caller ID to know who it was.
It was always the same. When the other man felt alone or depressed, he was the one he called. He always answered, it never occurred to him not to. The connection to this man was too great. The fates had decreed it before either one of them were born.
“But fate was cruel.”
To put something in front of him he could never have. Well, he did have it, only to have it taken away. He didn’t even put up a fight when it happened. He knew from the start they would never live happily ever after. There would be no fairy tale ending for them.
He didn’t like to live his life in a fish bowl, didn’t like the attention his acting would bring to his personal life. He did what he had to, and this time around had actually liked it. He was very proud of this movie and in David Cronenberg had found a director who understood him.
Even though he enjoyed it, he was glad it was over. Christmas had come and gone and he was alone on his ranch. He had said in an interview that he was becoming a hermit, and he was. He didn’t mind being alone. He had a lot to occupy his time.
If only memories of him would stop coming back to fill up his mind. Soft skin, soft moans, feather light touches with velvet hands. Losing himself in the endless depths of his ever willing body. Hard thrusts into the tightness that threatened to consume him, over and over again. The ghost was always one step head of him. Just when he had thought he had exorcised those memories, they would slam into him, bringing with them an onslaught of emotions he could never contain. He had come one night, just thinking about him, without even touching himself.
He would make nice conversation with his ex-lover, enough to give him what ever he needed this particular night. Then he would try to convince himself that this was it.
The end.
Though it never would be.
“Happy New Year, Orlando.” Viggo finally said to the other man.
"What are you doing New Year's Eve, Viggo?" The ghost replied.
