Your goodbye didn’t make me stronger
It didn’t make me miss you any less
With you not there, I didn’t reach my full potential
I thought happiness to be a foreign thing.
With you not there, I didn’t reach the height of my fame
I had only loneliness as my companion.

Your goodbye didn’t make me stronger
It didn’t open the world before my feet
With you not there, I didn’t become all I wanted to be
I only wanted to be with you.
With you not there, I didn’t shine for all the world to see
I only shone as tears fell down my face.

Your goodbye didn’t make me stronger
Your goodbye tore my heart from my chest
Your goodbye dashed my soul upon the ground
Your goodbye stole the light from my life
Your goodbye made me long for just one less day
Your goodbye didn’t make me stronger . . .
