Call It Love
We've got all night
Let's take our time
Tell me your secrets
I'll tell you mine
When it makes us feel better
Call it love
"Lost, are we?" The quiet voice at his back made Viggo sigh, and he nodded before realizing that there was no way Orlando could see him.
"We are." He stared up, barely seeing the small
flares of stars through the trees, and thought of predators that hunt under the
cover of darkness. "Sorry 'bout that."
"No worries..." The breath was warm across the
side of his neck, Orlando's perpetual heat radiating into his back. Viggo
turned his head to feel his lips against the Brit's smooth cheek, and
detected a soft sigh not his own.
"Viggo? Do you ever think...." the older man waited out
the silence, letting the crickets and the wind fill in the space between,
"...about you and me?"
He smiled, this time knowing Orlando could feel it,
"All the time..."
Viggo tasted the way the cheek dimpled beneath his lips,
craned his head as Orlando's face turned, not away, "...me too.."
Kissing in the dark isn't like kissing in sunlight. It's too
easy to forget. It's not real enough. And Viggo wanted neither of these things
to be true, so he lifted his camera and pushed the shutter.
*FLASH*
And Orlando laughed into his mouth, arms wrapping around the
older man and drawing him to the forest floor.
You say you won't
I say you will
You make me crazy
But I want you still
When it makes us feel better
Call it love
"What were you Thinking!?"
"What?"
Viggo flailed. Then stopped himself because it seemed
entirely too 'Orlando-like.' "You jumped off a bridge!"
"I was bungee jumping!" Orlando seemed more amused
than anything, his face still flushed from the exhilaration of careening
towards what should have been certain death. The curls of his Mohawk were
trying to fall into his eyes, even if they were two inches too short, and he
had a wide, goofy smile plastered across his face. Lines stretched crow’s feet
upward from his eyes and dented dimples close to his lips. He looked beautiful,
Viggo thought, and somewhat wild. He reminded Viggo of a poem he'd read for a
part once, about wild things…
The older man felt a momentary sadness, and completely
unworthy. The lecture he’d been formulating in his mind since he'd watched
Orlando laugh and sail backwards off the railing of a bridge suddenly
evaporated. Who was he, to demand anything of this amazing man?
"It’s just… Hasn't your body endured enough abuse, Orli? You broke your ribs not even
two weeks ago!"
The slight smile lingered as Orlando looked at Viggo. Really
looked, his eyebrows wrinkling as he considered the fidgeting of his typically
calm lover. Viggo felt his cheeks heat slightly, and he turned to look at the
pictures covering the mirror before his makeup chair, fingers furrowing into his
hair. The older man breathed out and wondered why he was overreacting.
"I won't do it again" The way Orlando’s words
lilted upward at the end of his sentence made Viggo smile. He knew the younger
man was only saying it to pacify him, and he turned with a small snort,
leveling a look at Orli, who had the grace to flush.
"Don’t give me that. You know you will..." Viggo
walked to Orlando, winding his arms around the slender body and inching it back
against the cuntenbago’s door. He sighed dramatically into Orli’s neck and felt
the other man shiver.
"heh, ok…maybe...yes… I will..." Archery strong fingers tangled in Viggo’s
hair, drew his cheek up against Orlando’s, “Forgive me?”
Viggo rubbed his stubble on the smooth cheek, grinned when
he felt Orli squirm, and pressed him harder against the door, “convince me.”
The lips that caught his were already wet and open, a tongue
that tasted like nicotine and tic-tacs invading his mouth unceremoniously,
making him groan. He sucked at the flavor, felt the hands in his hair tilt his
face further and Orlando’s mouth sink more fully into his own. Viggo knew
what it was like to fall and not hit the ground.
A sudden banging on the door startled both men from the
kiss, and Viggo growled softly.
“Oy! What’ve you two wankers done to the door? It won’t
open!”
“How about we open it and you can find out, Beanie!” Viggo
snorted at Orli’s response and gently tugged at the younger man’s very exposed
earlobe with his teeth. He heard Sean muttering outside,
“Oh bloody Christ… Get yer Asses out here in five minutes!
We’re going ta be late for wardrobe!” Then Beanie beat a hasty
retreat, still grumbling curses.
Orlando giggled, the sound turning to a purr when Viggo
breathed warmly into his ear. He shifted his head, brushing kisses over the
older man’s temple, “Come surfing with me tomorrow?”
Viggo leaned away to look at Orli incredulously, eyebrows
lofted, "I won't."
Orlando grinned, leaned in to nip at Viggo’s jaw, and
whispered, “Yes… you will...”
I play my hand
You call my bluff
We push each other
'Til we've had enough
When it's all you've got
Call it love
In the dim, indirect light that spilled from the kitchen into the living room, Viggo stared at Orlando. The shadows that came with the setting sun sat in stripes on the younger man's cheek, turning the bridge of his nose into a bronze peak and the valleys of his dimples into dark pools that Viggo longed to explore with his tongue. Orli slouched comfortably in his skin, his ridiculously striped shirt unbuttoned at the collar and rolled up at the sleeves, revealing buttery limbs and a collection of jewelry. Viggo had never quite seen a man... or woman... wear as many bracelets and necklaces as the Brit wore.
The younger man shifted, his brow knotting, and Viggo saw
him shoot a glance towards Elijah. The blue-eyed boy on his left reacted
instantly, pressing a handful of cards to his chest and glaring back at
Orlando. Viggo felt himself smirk when Orli revealed his perfect teeth in a
broad, innocent grin.
"No cheating." Elijah's tone was unforgiving.
"now c'mon, is that anyway to treat a mate, Lij?"
The easy, lightly pleading lilt of Orlando's voice did
things to Viggo. It made him remember late afternoons when that tone begged for
entirely different things, and his insides pulse in reminder that he'd
willingly given. Viggo willed his body to behave, quickly looking away from the
bickering men and back to his own cards. On his right, Sean Bean elbowed him,
and he grinned. He is so winning this hand.
"Place your bets, gentlemen." John sounded a bit
irritated, which made Viggo's grin widen. Lij and Orli were finally pried apart
by Billy, who unceremoniously sat on them both until they separated enough for
him to fit between the two younger actors. He eyed them, hunching over his
cards and tossing out three blue chips.
Viggo's lifted gaze caught Orlando's, and he felt the heat
in his stomach begin to smolder. Orli's expression was a practice in
impassivity, but his mahogany eyes flecked with bits of ochre, glinting smugly
at the scruffy Dane. Viggo cocked an eyebrow, dropped his eyes to the cards the
younger actor grips. He watched long fingers flex, idly rubbing on the cards'
glossy surfaces, and resisted the urge to lick his lips. Viggo had to
win this hand.
Trailing his attention back to Orli's eyes, he found him
still watching, wide mouth twitching in amusement. Vig affected disinterest,
pursing his lips in a way he knew would remind Orlando of how good he is with
them. The Brit's eyes widened slightly, irises growing so dark they seemed
rimmed in black, and Viggo tasted victory, among other things.
The flavor turned to dust in his mouth when Orli's arms
extended over his head, waving his cards temptingly at the rest of the people
gathered, and unfurling into a long bodied stretch that lifts the hem of his
shirt above the slouching jeans and rolled waistband of his boxers. The sun
tattoo wasn't visible, but it taunted Viggo with the knowledge of exactly where
it lay beneath the layers of clothing. He remembered the salt taste of flesh on
his tongue, and how, even after years, the skin on the tattoo was just slightly
raised. Viggo swallowed, lifting hot blue eyes to Orlando's knowing gaze, and
watched as the younger man collapsed back into his boneless sprawl on the couch
between Billy and Dominic.
Sean's voice tore Viggo's attention away from the image of
sex on legs. "Time to show the cards, lads."
Damn straight it was time. Viggo watched as those who hadn't
tossed their cards in lay down what they had. Elijah's three of a kind was
beaten by Beanie's Full House, and John grumbled about having nothing and
learning when he should or shouldn't bluff. But Viggo's eyes returned to Orli,
who stared back at him with those damned huge pupils, expectancy in his posture.
He wiggled his eyebrows as the room grew quiet, "Well, Vig? Show me what
you got."
The little tease, Viggo thought, shifting to ease the
steadily growing pressure in his groin. He grinned, maybe leered a little too,
and leaned forward. "I'm going to win this hand, Orlando."
"We'll see," is all he said, twitching his
attention to his cards and moving them about in his slender hands.
Viggo chuckled deeply, knowing what it tended to do to the
other man, and finally laid down his cards one at a time. "Straight Flush,
Orli. Can you beat that?"
A soft murmur circulated their small group, and Vig felt a
moment's satisfaction as Orlando stared at the cards on the table. The Brit
heaved a huge, resigned sigh, and casually began tossing down his hand, in an
eerie order. Ten... Jack... Queen. Viggo's eyes widened. He looked back up and
Orli grinned at him again, silence returning abruptly to the circle of poker
players.
King....
Shit. Ace, high. Viggo had never been as turned on as he was
right in this moment.
"Royal Flush." Elijah muttered needlessly, his
expression wide and childish with incredulity. Viggo couldn't stop staring at
Orlando, who stared back with eyes that had grown endlessly deep and hungry.
Someone groaned to his left, perhaps Sean Astin, and he
heard, "Oh man, not again!"
Orlando laughed, but Viggo ws already calmly pulling him
from his seat and dragging him down the hall, not caring about the tussle in
their wake as the Hobbits fought over their chips.
Do we tell the truth
Or do we live a lie
Is the feeling good
Is that what makes you cry
When you say those words
Look me in the eye
Tell me why
You call it love
Months felt like years, and Viggo was certain an eternity had passed since he’d last held Orlando like this. They lay tangled in a hotel bed, Viggo’s face pressed into the fragrant skin between his lover’s shoulder blades, one arm curved around Orli’s waist. He sighed, breathing him in with a level of desperation, frightened that he had somehow forgotten this smell, this feeling.
Orlando murmured softly when the older man’s tongue painted
a stripe along his spine, tasting salt and musk and the imprint of Viggo left
from hours earlier, when they had tumbled against one another and into bed
after escaping the premiere’s party. This event was the first opportunity
they’d had to see one another since leaving New Zealand, and both men had snuck
away as soon as possible, exploiting the hobbits’ willingness to help. Viggo
remembered being pushed into the room, frantic fingers at his waistband the wet
heat inside Orlando’s mouth. It hadn’t been slow, but it had been glorious, and
the very thought of going any length of time without this man beside him was
painful. Viggo’s arm tightened, trying not to think about it. He didn’t want to
ruin the time left to them…
“..Viggo.” His name was a breath on Orli’s lips, sighed
instinctively as he slipped into wakefulness. When he said nothing more, Viggo
thought he might have gone back to sleep. But Orli murmured again, sounding
sad, “I’ve missed this…”
“I have too, angel.” Viggo leant forward, touching his mouth
to shoulder and arm, hooking his chin over the bicep of his lover. The
expression on Orlando’s face made his heart clench. “But we’re here now.”
“I know” The soft mahogany eyes turned away, and Viggo could
sense the yearning in them. “It’s never going to be like it was, is it?”
Viggo went still, panic welling up in his throat for one
blinding moment. But as he thought of it, the older man calmed, inhaled slowly,
“No… it will never be like New Zealand.” He leaned forward, his weight pushing
Orlando’s shoulder down to the bed so that he lay on his back beneath Viggo.
“It will be more.”
Orli blinked, his eyes reflective in the dimness of the
room, tears suspended like lights hung precariously in his irises. Viggo softly
touched his cheeks, the trembling lips. He felt the Brit wrap his long limbs
around his lover’s body, so that Viggo slid into the familiar cradle between
his legs. Orli’s mouth moved against his fingers, pleading, “…I don’t want
more. Not any more than this.”
“Shhh…” Viggo smiled, the uncertainty and yearning pulsing
inside him. He curled himself over his lover, voice rough, “It’s time to start
living again, Orlando.”
The hold on him tightened, and his body lined up with the
other man’s hips. He pressed forward, gasped an aborted sob. It felt like
letting go.
Then Orlando’s breath touched his throat, “…w-with you,
Viggo?”
And it was like taking off…
“With me, angel.”
Orlando hiccupped, and smiled. Viggo could feel the hot
tears burn his fingertips as they slid across the younger man’s temples. The
Brit laughed falteringly and arched his body, “And this?… What will we say,
when people ask? What will we call it?”
Viggo sighed, murmured as he sunk down into Orlando, “We’ll
call it love.”
We've got all night
Let's take our time
Tell me your secrets
I'll tell you mine
When it makes us feel better
Call it love
