Looking for a Beta
Mar. 25th, 2024 07:50 pmHi again!
While I'm jumping headlong into reading old (and new!) favourites, I'm also writing again. At the moment I'm finishing up two A/L stories (one about 4000 and one 6000 words) and I'm tinkering with a V/O story (about 12000 words - only a rough draft at the moment, needs a few more rewrites).
But that means, I'm in desperate need of a beta. I'm not a native speaker, and while I do think I speak and write decent English, it's not perfect. I mostly need someone to proofread for grammar and spelling mistakes, for correcting my messed up tenses and for deciding whether a story should be British or American English (I don't care either way, but I tend to switch things up, which of course is annoying). I don't necessarily need someone to hold my hand and plot a story with me - if I send you something, it will be finished. And I'm a slow writer, the chance that I will bombard you with 50.000 word stories every month is slim to none. My longest story to date was 70.000 words - and that took me two years to write.
If you want to see what an unbetaed story from me looks like, you can pick any of these ficlets - they are hardly edited and not betaread. It won't get worse than that.
I'd be eternally grateful if someone was willing to give this a go or could point me in the right direction where I might ask around for a betareader.
