[identity profile] legorli.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vigorli
I have noticed that the news updates for these two have lessened more and more over the years, so I decided to make a huge catching up update from let's say 2010-the present. Mainly quotes, but pictures too. Also, I would like to show some quotes that I found through old interviews of Orlando and amused me quite much. It is going to be huge, I warn you. What is your favourite smell?
Viggo: To truthfully answer at this time, I’d have to reveal something that is too intimate to reveal.
The Guardian, 2/1/2010
Okay, this, I cannot think of anyone else than Orlando being behind the lines. The answer is obviously the scent of someone and not something. And the word "smell" actually makes me think of: “First time smelling you with permission” –Communion, “The possible scent of your careless hand" -First Light and "I still smell you. I close the curtains to see what you left." -One of Those Kisses. Now, I don't and can't know for sure if these lines/poems are written for Orlando, but I would like to believe so.

You and the LOTR cast all got matching tattoos during filming -- are you still on each other's Christmas card list?
Yeah, it was a real family affair. I’m still in touch with Billy Boyd [Pippin] — he’s a very sweet man. And I’ve got a card I’m going to put in the mail to Viggo [Mortensen, who played Aragorn, pictured with Bloom above], because I’ve been thinking about how much of an influence he was on me. He’s so dedicated, disciplined and talented. He taught me a lot. And it was only afterwards that I realised it. It’s funny: you look back on these things 10 years later and ask yourself, ‘Who had a major impact on me?’ As an actor, it was Viggo. I was unpacking a load of boxes recently, recounting old memories, and I remembered how lucky I was that he was around me at that time.
Shortlist, April 2011

I find it amusing how he dedicates one sentence to Billy who is very dear to him and the whole rest paragraph to Viggo who is special to him. No matter how many years pass, he always seem to be in awe with Viggo, totally enamoured by him.

Then there is this video in which Orlando is asked:
What is Orlando Bloom’s ideal, ultimate romantic evening?
And he answers with:
[laughs] “Oh my word. You know, I do my best. I do... [laughs] I do my best. Um... you know, if I gave that away it would be a trait secret and that would be devastating. I can’t give those trait secrets away. But I do do my best and-and-and-and-and poetry and good food and wine and enjoyment and BEING IN THE MOMENT, I think is the key to an enjoyable time with anybody in any situation.”

Where to start from? His weirdo “Oh my word” use? His “I can’t answer” but he does answer in a very satisfying way? His fucking adorable stutter and the fact that he looks down during his answer? Mentioning poetry and wine and living the moment which are dead connected to Viggo? Viggo taught him to enjoy the moment after all. :)

There is also this video of an interview on Google Hangouts, part of which includes:

If you have one, what is your pre-show routine?
“[...] I have a personal um... little routine that I do in my dressing room just to kind of get myself mentally... um... mentally prepare myself to go on stage and part of that is a poem that I read to myself and part of it is just listening to some music... which kind of turns me on... to the character and part of it is um... just getting made up and ready to go and dressed in my costume.” (from 5:40-6:06)

A poem that he reads to himself and music that turns him on? (to the character...) Hm... I can totally picture Orlando reading a specific poem (by Viggo) to himself to prepare him for the role and listening to music (by Viggo) which turns him on (to the character) By the way, in another interview when he was asked what is his Romeo and Juliet playlist he refused to answer because that is his secret but the music is great because it needs to be. But we can't ever know for sure, yeah?

But we do know this. From the same video/interview:

You’ve worked with lots of wonderful people. –I have- Who was the person who influenced you the most and with whom would you want to have a reunion again in the same movie?

Orlando (after taking a deep breath): “Um, that’s a very easy question for me to answer. Um... *pauses* Viggo Mortensen. I sat next to Viggo Mortensen... who was playing Aragorn... in... Lord of the Rings... Every day... for two years nearly – and I did more work with him than anyone else ‘cause we were the same height, scale height, you know? So the hobbits were smallest and we would do stuff with them, but we kinda do stuff with their doubles - *pauses* Viggo Mortensen had the biggest impact on me... I would say... in terms of... um... approach... dedication... intention... and artistic outlook and I’m nowhere CLOSE to how GE(nius) –how good- he is as an artist and I wouldn’t even put myself in the same category as an actor. I just, in terms of-in terms of influence and as a human being he had a very big influence on me. He was um... he is a very generous soul... he is a very dedicated soul... and he um... he really shared... um... he-he-he was like a mentor... while-when I... without me even knowing that that was what he was doing ‘cause I was too young to probably really understand and appreciate–appreciate it at that time? But, as I am older now and I look back, I always think “Wow, just the person that he was and the actor and the way that he was with me... was so wonderful.””

Do you keep in touch with him at all or...

“Yeah we sh- we trade e-mails. We were out of touch for quite a while... um... but recently we traded e-mails, but, you know, Viggo is- Viggo is an artist. He’s not just an actor. I mean, he’s actually an artist. So he can write, he can paint, he can sing, he can dance, he can play music, he can do it all. I mean, he’s like... he can take you fishing, he can take you into the wild, I mean, he’s the guy that does it ALL, you know what I mean? It’s like... I tell you, most men WISH they were Viggo Mortensen, you know what I mean? [laughs]”

And he’s also very handsome.

He’s devastatingly handsome, of cou- and he would HATE me, I know. Viggo, I apologise, I apologise. Please don’t hate me, it’s all love. It’s any kind of love, but he would probably hate the fact that I said any of that ‘cause he’s that kind of guy so...” (29:40-32:25)

Okay, first of all, a very much thank you to [livejournal.com profile] mithriel and whoever helped her with posting her question on Google+ because we would not have gotten the chance to have Orlando gushing (as always) on Viggo for 2,5 or so minutes. Secondly... what can I say? He seems not to be able to control what he says when he talks about Viggo. He is impulsive and genuine when referring to him. His description of "soul" is quite sweet and I think that "Davastatingly handsome" speaks for itself. :) Also, I love the small pauses and "ums" he makes, and also how he does not look at the camera or anyone else for that matter. The genius part... yeah, why did you stop yourself, Orlando? We know and you know that he is a genius. You most of all.

A few screenshots

Now, there is an interview (I could find it only in audio, sorry) here from late 2014/beginning of 2015 probably judging by the movie in which Orlando is in. Starting at 1:51.
“And it’s so very strange, to think of all that time ago... Aragorn, coming through as Viggo who was AMAZING, but the journey we’ve been on, you know, as a cast and this crew and... to have come to this movie, I feel so lucky to have come to this movie [...]”

Okay, letting the "amazing" comment aside (because we have seen it so many times already), how come he mentions Viggo out of the blue? I mean, okay, he had mentioned Stuart Townsend while ago, but still. The thing I want to comment on is how he says Aragorn's name. It is the same quiet and soothing way as it was 15 years ago.

Next is probably the biggest event of the year regarding VO, their meeting in the Cannes Film Festival on May of this year. :D He was with his beard girlfriend Katy Perry, but I couldn't see her near him at least when inside the building.
A few photos first

When inside the building, you can see Orlando's expression of love while Viggo is on stage.

And the best thing, there is a video which shows Viggo speaking directly to Orlano and telling him:
"Orlando Bloom, your presence is requested after the film is over by some children."

I was a bit surprised actually that Viggo did this bold move of basically asking Orlando out in public late at night, but very happy nonetheless. I hope and/or I am sure they had fun that night. ;)

Coming to Summer, Viggo went to the States to promote his new movie Captain Fantastic (and meet with Orlando, if he was there at that time) and also met with Dom and Billy and Dom posted a few photos of them on his Instagram. One of them is this one. I love the small piece of poetry he has commented on it.
"There is a deep love. Not separated by ocean sky and sound. This love has always been. Always will be." with a "becurious" hashtag, which he uses often. Now, I don't know if we should be indeed curious about that love. I suppose he means the love of the cast as a whole. Probably.

Going to September, there is an interview of Viggo about his comments on the Hobbit he made on 2014 which states:
This isn't to say he's not a fan of Jackson's Hobbit series which culminated with trilogy-closer Battle of the Five Armies in 2014. Quite the opposite, in fact.
"I went to each one on opening day with 3D glasses sat in the front row. Obviously, [Peter] loves all that stuff - I'm still admiring of his willpower to micro-manage all of it."
The Independent, 8/9/2016

I just feel endeared by how much he seems to respect and support the people he has worked with and some he came to having a close relationship with. I'm not talking only about Orlando, of course. But I am amused that he went to the front row with 3D glasses on the opening day and watched him on screen. :)

Finally, this month, a few days before Viggo's birthday, on 13/10, Orlando posted on his Instagram this photograph.

with the comment "tbt (throwback Tuesday) to when we all got tats cos we loved so much." Yeah, you loved so much Orlando, that's right...

And Viggo posted on 16/10 on PP a quote by Buddha, a favourite of mine too. "Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon and the truth."

Sun... Moon... yeah. Sounds pretty familiar to me. To those who don't know, I am referring to Orlando's Sun tattoo on his lower left abdomen and to Viggo's Moon tattoo on the same place, but on the right side which they both had before they met. Talk about fate.

I am stopping here for now. This has gotten too long and I have been working on it for too long. The part with Orlando's much older interviews will come later. Thank you to whoever spent the time to read this. As you must have noticed, I have come to be a believer of this relationship, meaning that I believe Viggo and Orlando AT LEAST were in a romantic relationship. Though things lead me to believe that they still love each other.

That's it, have a good night. :)
