ancabellfor indulging one of my fancies and posting an unedited fic draft
history lesson! When the Brits colonised England they stayed in an area around Dublin (? this is from memory) called "The Pale." Think of it as being an olden-times green zone. To go beyond the pale was to risk falling into the hands of the scary pagans.
