Running on Faith - Chapter 12
Oct. 24th, 2011 10:57 pmViggo sat in the makeup trailer, staring blindly at his folded hands in his lap. He had been there since four a.m., unable to sleep any longer. Viggo never really required much sleep and lately he was sleeping even less. His thoughts stayed on Orlando almost constantly, wondering if he was okay. Viggo looked up at the clock; it was just after six now and everyone would be arriving soon. He was worried about seeing Orlando today and he hoped he could keep it together. There was the film to consider and he had to push down all of his hurt and longing and focus.
Orlando pulled into the set, needing to speak with Peter. This was the day he was dreading; the first day that he would see Viggo again. He had to keep his mind on the movie and the reason why he was here. The last thing Orlando wanted to do was jeopardize it.
Orlando was scheduled to see the doctor for a follow-up appointment tomorrow afternoon and he wanted to remind Peter of it today so he would be off in time. Overall he was feeling good. The incision had healed well and the soreness was almost completely gone. He hadn’t realized how much the cyst had been bothering him. Orlando held on to the hope that the biopsy would be negative for cancerous cells. He didn’t know what he would do if it was.

Orlando was surprised to catch Peter right away and in a few minutes he headed towards the makeup trailer. He hoped that his makeup artist would already be there, and he could get a head start and get out of there as quickly as he could. Orlando always enjoyed the early mornings in the trailer. There were so many mornings that he and Viggo would arrive early. He couldn’t help but smile as he thought of the amorous encounters they had there. More than once it resulted in Viggo sitting in Orlando’s makeup chair while Orlando straddled him, facing the mirror. He would ride Viggo’s cock slowly while watching them in the mirror; Viggo’s hands gripping his slim waist as he guided them.
Orlando shook the thoughts from his mind. The last thing he needed was a hard-on right now. He quietly eased up the stairs and went inside. The trailer was pretty dark and he started clicking on some of the lights. He sat down at his station and sighing deeply. This was going to be hard and maybe having a few moments alone would help him get his bearings and gather his thoughts.
Viggo was sitting in the corner when he heard someone coming in the trailer door. His breath caught in his throat as he realized who it was. Orlando had not noticed him yet, so Viggo sat quiet and still watching Orlando moved through the trailer. God, he missed him so much. His eyes began to water and he swallowed hard. This was going to be harder than he thought.
Orlando looked up when he heard someone’s breath hitch, and was shocked to see Viggo sitting in the corner. Their eyes met and held each other’s gaze for a long while.
Finally Viggo moved to stand. “I’m sorry Lan. I didn’t know you were going to be here this early.” He fidgeted with the journal in his hand. “I’ll just go until the others get here for the day.”
Orlando nodded his head, not speaking a word to him. His heart ached and he still loved Viggo so much. This was not going to be an easy road.
As Viggo made his way to the door, he turned to Orlando once again. “Um, you have a few things at the house. Some clothes and other stuff. You can go by and pick it up anytime, unless you want me to bring it here.”
Orlando shook his head. “No need to bring it here. I’ll come by when I can.” This translated into ‘when you are not there’
Viggo left the trailer and found a quiet, secluded spot to finally let the tears fall. After pouring out his pain, he felt a little better, but his makeup artist was going to have a fit when she tried to hide the red eyes.

The day started out slowly; Peter unsure of how it was going to go on this first day of shooting. Everyone kept a professional demeanor, but as soon as they had a break, Orlando and Viggo moved to different sides of the set. The tension on the set was high, but it had started to level off now. Finally Peter called for lunch and everyone scattered, wanting to use the precious minutes to grab something to eat and take a break.
Orlando made his way towards his trailer, ready for a few moments rest. He wasn’t really paying attention to anyone around him, and it stunned him to come face to face with the hobbits.
For several moments they stood and stared at each other. Finally Dom cleared his throat, trying to figure out how to start. “Orlando. Hey. Um… How are you?” It was a stupid thing to ask, but he didn’t know what to say.
Orlando kept his face blank, not showing any emotion. “Fine.” He started to move past them when Elijah’s hand grasped his arm. “Orlando, listen. We need to talk…”
Orlando pulled his arm from his grasp. “No, there isn’t anything to say. We have a job to do and that will be the extent of our interaction. I have nothing else to say to you.”
He turned quickly and strode away from them. By the time he made it to his trailer, he was breathing heavily and his legs felt like jelly. He wanted to fly into a rage, scream and holler, cuss them; but he didn’t. He just couldn’t do anything to jeopardize the movie. He wouldn’t do that to Peter. Taking some deep breaths, Orlando worked to get his emotions under control.
The rest of the day went fairly smoothly. Orlando avoided contact with Viggo as much as he could, only standing near him and looking into his eyes when the script dictated it. He could feel Viggo’s gaze on him and Orlando knew he was watching his every move. He was relieved when Pete finally called it a day. Orlando wasted no time getting out of his costume and makeup, anxious to put some distance between himself and everyone else. It had been a hard day and Orlando needed some time to get his thoughts together.

Viggo sat at his station and watched covertly as his elf was turned back into Orlando. He suddenly looked away, the sad look in his eyes evident to anyone who looked. He swallowed hard; Orlando wasn’t ‘his’ anymore. While trying to keep his composure, Viggo glanced back over to the chair next to him but Orlando was gathering his things to leave for the evening.
Viggo quietly told his makeup artist that he would finish up himself. He waited patiently as everyone filed out of the trailer and left him to his thoughts. Viggo sat there for a long time, staring blankly at Orlando’s chair. The evening slowly passed by and he suddenly realized that he was sitting in the dark, alone. Viggo’s heart was wounded and he felt so hollow inside. He glanced over his shoulder at the couch, and he moved to lay down there. It was lumpy and uncomfortable, but Viggo didn’t care. As he drifted to sleep, he wondered if he would ever care about anything again.

The next morning came early and the first thing that entered Orlando’s mind was the impending doctor visit. His thoughts started to betray him as he wished Viggo would be there with him. Orlando knew that all he had to do was ask, and Viggo would be right there in a flash. He sighed deeply as he tried to push those images out of his head.
This morning seemed a bit easier. When Orlando made it to the makeup trailer, most everyone was already there. He settled into his chair and tried to relax, thankful of the chatter going on around him. He needed to keep his mind occupied as much as he could today. Orlando was full of nervous energy, his knee bouncing up and down as his ears and wig were applied.
Filming was going smoothly with no major problems. They were currently on a break and Orlando only had one more shot to do until he needed to leave. Looking around the set, he caught sight of a familiar face and an idea sparked in his mind.
Gary was standing over on the other side. He had seen Orlando earlier and he planned to make his way around to him to see how he was doing. He was surprised when Orlando approached him.
Orlando glanced around to see most everyone had moved on and they were relatively alone. “Hey. I was wondering if you could help me with something.”
He briefly explained the situation to Gary, and then Orlando asked him if he wouldn’t mind riding over the doctor’s office. If something was wrong, he was going to need someone to drive him home.
Viggo stood over to the side and watched the two of them talking, watching how they interacted with each other. He suddenly realized why the man was familiar. How did they come to know each other? He was drug from his thoughts by Peter, who wanted to do one more take. It didn’t take long and then they were free for the rest of the day. Viggo watched as Gary approached Orlando and they walked together back to the makeup trailer. It was like a train wreck. He knew he should stay away, but he couldn’t help but look. It was a short while before he headed that direction, and he abruptly stopped when they came out of the trailer together. Viggo felt a deep physical pain in his gut as he watched them climb into Gary’s car and drive away together. Viggo’s stomach churned. Orlando had moved on to someone else.
