Summary: In which Aragorn and Legolas and their companions depart Minas Tirith for the Black Gate; their time together is not yet at an end. This story contains several “deleted scenes” from the movie. It stands alone, but is also part of the In Dreams arc; it is a sequel to Sleepless, Restless, Faithless and Fearless and takes place immediately afterward.

Disclaimer: No doubt Tolkien would roll over in his grave at this interpretation of events. This work is (obviously) purely fictional, and was born out a deep love – bordering on obsession – with the movie-verse so brilliantly created by Peter Jackson.

Author’s Notes: Important! This story is set within the events of Peter Jackson's Return of the King. Therefore, in order to provide context, periodically there are scenes that I have taken directly from the screenplay. I make no claim to have written any part of these scenes, and have done my best to call them out via italics.
