A WEAK HEART
I stand on the edge of the cliff in the chilly midnight air near the beach, near ”our” beach, as we used to call it, the safe, tranquil haven without disturbance. I remember how we used to swim in the moonlit waters of the sea, a whole universe away from the wakeful day. The salty smell in the air reminds me of your skin as you lay still basking in the silvery light.
Our union was still in an almost virginal stage and I told you about my weak heart.
I was broken; in pieces, an emotional wreck and you told me you’d mend me, make me whole again. I told you that if I ever fell my fall would be for you, my love would be in you. I also told you that if you ever cut me, I’d bleed forever.

I hoped you’d bring me home, for I had gotten lost to the world. The rise to stardom, the endless cruelty around me like a hawk pushed me off the course and I lost whatever map I had built for myself. I kept on living, wishing for you to come get me. You came, bearing dark news, and I felt myself changing. I was there when you told me it was time to never hold our love. Now I let go and take the final step. The fall to the darkness seems endless, feels infinite. For you I whisper...

My fall will be for you.
