Summery: A fight between Viggo and Orlando and what Viggo’s life would be like without the love of his life. *Warning* There are parts in this that are a little confusing but please stick with it! All will be reveled in the end!

***
The fight had started over nothing. In fact neither one could probably tell anyone what had started it; just that it very quickly escalated into shouting match about Orlando’s lack of sincerity in their relationship.

“What would you have me do? Would you have me throw away everything I’ve worked for the last five years? I just broke up with her! The media is having a field day, Viggo! They’re everywhere on this and now you wanna go public? I love you, I really do, but it’s going to look really strange if I suddenly switch teams! Christ!” Orlando said in exasperation. He stalked back and forth past Viggo who stood passively on the rug that they had bought together not two weeks before.

“I don’t expect you to do it right now! But I want us to be able to walk outside and be seen with each other without the fear that we will have everyone speculating!” Viggo said hotly. Viggo was mad, and he didn’t care if he was being reasonable or not anymore.

“My career is based on these little girls who worship me! Until I can prove myself as an actor where I’m not the pretty boy that's just eye candy...I can't jeopardize that! If I do I might as well kiss my entire career goodbye! If I can see to it that I am seen as a real actor then it’ll be different. Then yes.” Orlando shouted into Viggo’s face as he turned to face him, accidentally knocking the crystal horses he’d gotten for Viggo when he was in Malta on vacation causing them to shatter on the carpet covered hardwood floor. Orlando’s face was red and tears obviously rimming his pain filled eyes as he stared defiantly into Viggo’s eyes.

“Your career. That seems to be the only thing that you’re worried about. You don’t worry about us. I don’t think that you are even worried about our relationship. You talk big but you don’t come through…” Viggo was cut off by an incredulous look that crossed Orlando’s face and the desperate words coming from him.

“If this is about last month, I didn’t have a choice! The meeting was sudden and I couldn’t get out of it! You know that!”

“Oh and Kate just had to go with you?” Viggo said accusingly as he crossed his arms across his chest.

“She just showed up! I didn’t know she was coming! I can't believe you are doing this! Why are you attacking me? I don’t deserve this!” Orlando yelled defensively trying hard to expel the accusations being thrown at him.

“You are the one that doesn’t have the courage to take this relationship to the level that it should have been at three years ago!” Viggo yelled and Orlando looked at him as if he was nuts.

“Oh that’s rich coming from the man who wouldn’t tell his son that we were sleeping together for a year and a half! Sam knew two months after we started this relationship!” Orlando shot back.

“You would tell people that we are together before we even confirm it for ourselves!” Viggo was stabbing at air now and he knew it… he was in the wrong, but he wouldn’t admit it.

“Pick a side, Viggo! Make up your mind! Am I unwilling to take our relationship to the next level or am I a big mouth? As far as I’m concerned all of the people who need to know about us, knows! The fellowship, Henry, Exene, Sam, Mom, Johnny, and Robin! That’s the only people who need to know! It’s no one else’s business!”

“You would say that! That's ‘cause you would make any relationship into something less than what it is!” Viggo was mad now. He was being accused of contradicting himself.

“You know what? Fine. You don’t think that I put anything in this relationship then you know what I don’t want to be in it.” Orlando said a defeated look in his eyes. He walked passed Viggo, to the door, grabbed his jacket, and left the house into the pouring rain.

The pain overwhelmed Viggo. He knew he was being unfair but seeing Orlando with girls just was killing him. He laid down on the couch and put his head in his hands.

*Three months later*

Viggo sighed inwardly as he stood talking to a man who was interested in one of his paintings. It was a charity thing which included his work for sale so they could start a new orphanage in Taiwan.

Suddenly he heard a twinkling laugh that made him turn. What he saw made his heart stop. Orlando had just walked into the room with a young woman that he vaguely remembered Henry saying was in a band or something, on his arm.

They were speaking to Beanie, who was observing her closely, but after a few exchanges he laughed with her and obviously eased up. Viggo excused himself from the client with the promise of seeing him later.

He walked cautiously over to the three of them. “Hello, Sean. Orlando.” He said a little uncomfortably, and then turned to the young woman.

“Viggo, this is Lira Nestelle. Lira, this is Viggo Mortensen.”

“It’s nice to meet you at last. Orlando has told me a lot about you.” She said with a smile, but he could see the distain in her eyes. She held her hand out to shake his.

He quietly took it and smiled back. “Nice to meet you, too.” He said as his heart broke
as he pulled away and watched as Orlando brushed a kiss onto her temple.

“See, baby? I said you two would get along!” Orlando said brightly.

“Yeah, like old friends.” She said with a smile, but the distain still filled her eyes.

“Yes. We’ll get along fine.” Viggo said with a grim laugh.

*Five months later*

Viggo was so depressed he couldn’t stand it. Orlando was everywhere these days. The Grammys as that little girl’s date, the MTV video awards for Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabethtown, the premiere of Pirates, and wherever he went that little girl was with him. She seemed to be everywhere and that made him more depressed than ever. Orlando never was this involved with Kate and now there were rumors going around that they were thinking about marriage.

He couldn’t paint, he couldn’t write, he couldn’t even look at a script. All he could think about was the fact that he lost Orlando. He was never going to get him back.
“DAD!” he heard Henry yell from downstairs. “Dad!!!!” his son’s voice came closer to the room and as his son yelled for him again he lifted his voice to answer him.

Henry came into his studio and looked over his father’s shoulder at the black paint covering the canvas. “It looks like your soul.” He commented and Viggo lifted a set of dead eyes to his son’s hurt blue ones.

“What do you mean?” he asked quietly.

“Dad, ever since Orli left, you’ve been a bundle of nerves and ever since you found out about Lira you've been nothing! This is what you have been painting for the last five months…. BLACK! You need to go and get him back no matter what it takes! I know you are stronger than this! You know it too! I just hate to see you like this!” Henry said worry, fear, and pain filling his voice.

Viggo was stunned to see the insightfulness of his son. He smiled slightly, but it was an improvement to the lifelessness he’d shown for eight months. “Alright. How about you and I go and do something?”

Henry’s face lit up and he smiled brilliantly. “Yeah! We can go hiking or cave-crawling!” he said as he hugged his father tight, then started to dash out the door.

“Henry?” he said hesitantly.

“Yeah?” Henry said turning back.

“Thanks.” He said, and Henry smiled again.

“No problem.”

*
Viggo was determined to get Orlando back. He was going to settle some things for the animals and then fly to L.A. so he could talk to him.
Then he got the letter that changed it all. An invitation to the wedding of Orlando Maximillion Bloom and Lira Irena Nestelle.

Viggo crumpled to the floor and wept. There was nothing he could do. It was already too late.

He barely acknowledged the doorbell as it rung. It rung again, and again insistently before he moved and opened the door, not caring who it was.

“I thought you would never answer,” a light but harsh voice said. Viggo looked up to find himself face to face to the woman that had replaced him. The woman who had everything that he once had and lost.

“Come to gloat?” he asked bitterly.

“No, to come face to face with the man that hurt Orli so badly that it took months for him to come around. I swear if the first time we met wasn’t in public I would have ripped your head off. You’re pathetic, you know that? You didn’t have the guts to go and even talk to him afterwards. I just wanted to let you know that the guy he’s with now can accept that he needs this. That his career is one of the most important things in his life.” she snapped. At first Viggo flared in anger. She was gloating. But then her words sunk in.

“The MAN he’s with now?” he asked.

“Yes. Our entire relationship was based off of the fact that I was a smoke screen. He got what he wanted, and I got what I wanted. Simple as that. And when Orli is ready he and I will divorce and we will be the same as who we were when we started this charade. You should have kept him. It wouldn’t have come to this. If I were you I would have gone after him,” she said and left the house.

***
Viggo bolted up straight. He looked around and found himself sitting on the couch. He noticed the broken crystal horses on the floor that had been knocked down during the fight and the open door and gasped for breath. It was that day. The day he regretted.

He jumped up and ran out the door, his feet still bare. He looked around frantically trying to locate Orlando. Suddenly he saw a form walking back up from the lower barn where Orlando had parked his car. He rushed towards it and grabbed Orlando as soon as he was in reaching distance.

“I’m so sorry. I was unfair and horrible and wrong!” he sobbed into Orlando’s shoulder. He felt the other man shaking and realized that Orlando was crying too.

“I’m sorry, too. I didn’t even get to the car before I realized that if I left now I would regret it for the rest of my life.” he muttered.

“We’ll make this work. We have to. I couldn’t live without you. Please, I will work with you to do this. I know your career is important. I’m sorry I accused you of not taking us seriously.”

“You were right about us going public. I just don’t want to do it right now. I’m sorry.” Orlando said as he buried his head in Viggo’s shoulder.

“We can do this.” Viggo said, and pulled Orlando up the stairs. “Now come on. I want you to get out of those wet clothes. You’ll catch pneumonia.”

*Two months later (in real time)*

Viggo and Orlando walked up to the apartment building that they shared in London.

Suddenly they turned at the sound of someone yelling Orlando’s name.

“Orli! Orli!” A woman yelled as she ran up the street to them. When she was in reach she wrapped Orlando in a huge hug. Orlando appeared surprised for a moment then hugged the girl back.

“What are you doing here?” he asked with a smile.

“I was playing in town and Sonia said that you were in town. I wanted to see you!” she laughed.

Viggo’s mouth dropped open. He knew that voice. He looked more closely at the half-hidden face and gasped. It was the woman from his dream!

The woman let Orlando go and smiled brightly at him. “Is this him, love?” she asked gesturing to Viggo.

“Yeah, this is Viggo.” Orlando said as he looked curiously at Viggo’s stunned face.

“Hi, I’m Lira. I have heard so much about you. It’s good to finally meet you.” She said holding out her hand to shake his a bright smile planted firmly on her lips, her eyes showing no contempt, but complete joy instead.
Viggo took her hand and introduced himself, still bewildered at the appearance of the woman in his dream.

“I’m sorry.” He said after a moment. “Have we met before? I feel like we’ve met before.”

“No I don’t think we have,” she replied a little confused. “I haven’t seen Orlando since we both graduated from Guildhall.”

“I’m sorry. You just seem familiar,” He said a little embarrassed.

“Maybe it was in a dream.” She said with a smile.

“Yeah, just a dream.” He said quietly.

Tell me what you think! I couldn’t find Orlando’s middle name, and then when I found out that he wont release it I made one up so there would be a little bit of relief in the tense part of the story. I hope you all enjoyed!
ok.... I do now know that Orli's middle name is Jonathan Blanchard but Maximillion just is funnier. Please don't be mad!
