A/N: So, I’ve never written fiction. But this little chat refused to get out of my head. A comment or two would make my year.

“So what’s next?”

“Pardon? Uh, pancakes? Or, there’s bacon over here. . . .”

“Maybe I should have said: who’s next?”

“Vig, I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.”

“Kate.”

“What about her?”

“What’s next after Kate?”

“You’re still not making any sense.”

Turning away from the vista outside the kitchen window, Viggo leaned against the counter and frowned at his lover. “Orlando.”

“. . . Vig.” A pause. Orlando looked away. “I don’t know.”

“Really.”

“Fuck, Vig! I just got out! Why are you pressuring me now?”

“Because it’s 2005. Because you’re about to leave again. Because it’s your year. And you damn well know it!”

“What do you want from me?”

“An answer.”

“I. . . .” “I can’t.”

“. . . .”

“Viggo?”

“. . . .”

“Vig.”

A sigh. “Neither can I.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I love you.”

“. . . .” “But?”

“I’m beginning not to trust you.”

“You’re trying to make me choose.”

“Baby, you’ve already chosen.”

“. . . .” “. . . .” “yeah.”

Viggo just closed his eyes. The pain, though expected, was still bright, sharp. “So, what’s next?”

“We haven’t found the right one yet.”

“You gonna marry this one?”

“Maybe.”

“’Wherever’ won’t take me that far, baby.”

“I know.”

Viggo turned back to the vista outside. Orlando just turned away.
