London looked crowded. The day was sunny and warm, perfect for all kinds of activities outside. Both Viggo and Orlando were glad they were only passing through the city. It was their first real trip abroad after Julian’s birth, as a family. Viggo had suggested Orlando they’d fly to England to show their kids the country where their daddy was from. Little Gaby was too young to understand anything really. But Julian was amazed at everything he saw. He pointed at Bobbies asking what the funny looking men were. He asked about the double-decker. To a little boy the whole country was a big wonder.

The trip to Canterbury had been eventful. Orlando had visited some of his relatives who couldn’t be there when his kids were christened. And of course Viggo had been there too. Now he knew the whole Bloom Clan. They had also slept in Orlando’s former home before making their trip down to Hastings.
Hastings was a place Orlando had spent summers in while he was as young as Julian. There was an old man selling ice cream. He had had his tiny booth there for years, even before Orlando’s birth.
Gaby had learned to walk a while ago and now she was unable to hold still. She brought so much joy with her unsteady walking on the sand. Sidi was running along the beach Julian at his tail. “Julian! Remember to stay out of water!” Orlando yelled after him. “I will!” the boy yelled back. Orlando let his son go keeping a steady eye on him, just in case. Little Gaby was sitting on his arm playing with his curls. Viggo had silently taken Orlando’s free hand and linked their fingers. Now they were slowly making their way along the beach, hand in hand.
The booth came to view. Its brightly colored sunshade was hard to miss. “Would you like some ice cream, princess?” Orlando asked. Gaby pushed her pink little tongue out and nodded. Orlando turned to Viggo. “Would you?” “Hmmmmmyeah...served on those lips.” He drawled before kissing Orlando gently. “You are such a romantic...” Orlando spoke against Viggo’s lips chuckling. “For you, yes.” “Okay. Hold Gaby.” Orlando passed Gabrielle to Viggo and bought three ice creams: one for Julian, one for Gaby and one for Viggo and him. He chatted with the old man a few moments, recalling times when he was a little boy. He had to laugh at the old man’s memory. He remembered the summers exactly like Orlando did. Back then it was his own father buying vanilla ice cream for him. Now it was him, doing that for his own son.

They all gathered together and sat down. Gabrielle was eating her cone swiftly, making the molten ice cream smear on her face and run down her chin. Julian didn’t make that much a mess but his face needed to be cleaned off as well. Chuckling Viggo did the job. Then he sat back next to Orlando.
Orlando sunk his teeth into the cold but soft ball of ice cream. Viggo nudged his cheek with his nose before claiming Orlando’s lips. Ice cream was definitely best served on Orlando.
