Orlando sat at a small table outside their trailer looking up at the sky. He had heard earlier that day about a rare phenomenon at the night sky in the southern hemisphere. This far he hasn’t seen anything else than the “southern lights”, as he liked to call them, which glowed in red and green against the stars. “Viggo, come see this!” he said when suddenly the blazing red color replaced all the green. Soon Viggo opened the door carrying a small lone, short and white candle with him. He placed it on the table, sat down and looked up. The lights up there certainly were beautiful, but more mysterious to him was all the shadows and hues of red playing on Orlando’s face.
Orlando felt eyes fix upon his face and he turned to look at Viggo. He was instantly swept into a warm embrace and a pair of soft lips was placed upon his. As surprising as it had been, Orlando melted in the strong arms. And he completely missed how tiny stars rained down only to disapper behind the horizon while the southern lights painted them red and green. But he didn’t know anything that would have been better or more exciting than the only person he loved. They let the kiss fade before pressing their foreheads and the tips of their noses together. “Happy birthday, angel.”
