The turn out for the wedding couldn't have turned out any better. Royalty from almost all neighboring countries, including the king of Palthia, Ian, their closest ally, had attended the wedding for Dione's eldest prince, Sean. The invitations had been sent out months prior, inviting any and all royalty from nearby countries, especially Boeotia, where they were still working to become allies. They had made some progress when Boeotia’s regent, Colin, had agreed to attend the wedding.

Everyone was surprised when Sean chose to marry a rather unknown regent from a fellow country, but after seeing Sean with his new husband, David, the guests knew it was a perfect match.

The two had met a year ago when David had arrived with Averia’s King, Heath during a treaty signing, allowing the two countries to become allies. Averia was one of the two neighboring countries of Dione, and due to it’s size, Averia could not afford to make enemies.

Heath had become friends with Sean during the latter’s first official diplomatic visit. Heath had been just inherited the throne after his father’s death six months previously and had been finding the royal protocol difficult to follow, especially involving foreign diplomats and princes.

Prior to Sean’s visit, Heath’s chief advisor, Russell, had made it clear that Dione must remain an ally to them. Fortunately Heath and Sean had similar attitudes and formed a close bond within days of meeting each other. It was only when Heath introduced David, his best friend, to Sean that things had become interesting. The canny prince had spotted the attraction between Sean and David, managing to skillfully engineer the pair together. Something which Heath took great pleasure in watching the romance blossom, he couldn’t have been happier for the pair.

At the time, Sean hadn’t been in an arranged engagement or marriage and fully took advantage of that fact by pursuing the affections of David, which the other man readily gave. Their developed love had caused David to leave Averia and move to Dione to be with Sean.

Sean’s parents, Hugo and Catherine, who insisting her name too formal, went by her childhood nickname of ‘Cate’, which Hugo himself had came up with when they first met at age 10 during their betrothal ceremony, were secretly very relieved they didn’t have to worry about making an arranged marriage for Sean; he was getting to that point on his own with David. Neither wished to have any of their children sold into loveless marriages for the sake of treaties or foreign relations, and if possible they would avoid that, however both were only too aware of the realities of royal life, and the sometimes unhappy obligations that came with their power and prestige of being royalty.

Immediately after the ceremony, Hugo pulled David aside to talk with him, eager to welcome him into the family. At first Sean had been worried that Hugo would want to quiz poor David about his life history, but fortunately his Father clearly had some mercy and contented himself with simply welcoming him to the family. David was Hugo’s very first son-in-law, and he and Cate were very excited, even though Cate managed to look beyond thrilled while she chatted with David’s brother, Craig, who smile was almost as charming as David’s.

Sean couldn't hide his besotted grin as he walked off in the other direction, where his two brothers were standing, talking amongst themselves. He had to give them credit for staying and at least to attempt mingle with their guests; his sisters had run off as soon as they could. Shaking his head, he turned around and seeing Karl and Viggo standing a way off talking, he made a beeline for his brothers.

"I should thank you," he said, approaching his brothers, sighing as they both offered their congratulations to Sean on becoming a married man.

His blonde brother looked up, tilting his head slightly in question, "And just why is that?"

"Because, Karl, you two at least had the decency to stay, even if you aren't talking with anyone but each other. Keira and Miranda managed to slip past Father and retreat into their rooms," Sean answered, leaning against a pillar.

"Oh be charitable, Sean, you know them. You were hardly fond of attending all those diplomatic meetings if I recall. Besides you know Keira and Miranda will love David, or at the very least, tease him to death. They hate anything that has with do with diplomatic issues, including weddings. You know they become extremely bored with anything like that. And of course, that does mean that one of us is next to marry and it certainly won‘t be Keira or Miranda," Karl groaned.

In the brothers’ opinion, Keira would never be good wife material, she had no desire to be tied down to one man and had all but stated she liked far too many to make a choice. While she was still very young and was very much the ‘baby’ of the family, she also thoroughly acted it. She was more interested in looking pretty and attracting the attention of Dione’s army men than issues she had to be worried about being a princess of Dione. Karl wished Keira would take her role as a princess more seriously, but his parents indulgence of her didn’t help. Keira was a very sweet girl, naturally very loving but she needed to start accepting the responsibility that came with her privileged life in Karl’s humble opinion.

Miranda, on the other hand, had been close to marriage, but it never happened. She had fallen for a soldier, Peter, and they were even engaged, until he was killed in battle. Miranda had been devastated and had lost interest in all men, too upset by the loss of her one true love. Her family had had grieved with and for Miranda, she had lost a part of herself it seemed when Peter died. She had truly loved him and her carefree laughter and the sparkle in her eyes had dimmed. All her brothers sometimes worried that three years of grieving was too much. Karl could only pray she would find someone to love her again, someone who could make her laugh again, he would dearly love to see that.

"Actually, if you're going by ages, technically it's our dear brother, Viggo," Sean commented casually, glancing over at said brother. He noticed Viggo had ignored the entire exchange, instead turning his attentions to a pretty young dark haired man talking with his mother, the jewels on his costume sparkling, a teasing smile on his pouting lips as he sneaked a glance at Viggo’s smoldering stare. He sighed and turned back to Karl, who was attempting to hold in his laughter. At least there was a complete consistency to Viggo. Nothing could distract their brother like a beautiful face.

"Viggo? Get married? You'd have a better chance of your children getting married before he does," Karl quipped.

"Who's getting married?" Viggo asked suddenly, glancing between his brothers.

"No one. We know you would never get married. You have entirely too much fun not being tied down to a husband or wife, whichever one you want to have one day," Sean said.

Viggo’s romances had become almost legend in the palace, male or female was fair game as far as Viggo was concerned (although his tendencies did lean slightly more towards the male persuasion), his only requirement was that they were pretty, or beautiful. To Viggo’s supposed credit, his lovers were generally speaking happy and well satisfied while they retained Viggo’s adoration but it never lasted. Two months had been the maximum time he had claimed a lover for, and often just a vague dismissal was given by Viggo, signaling the end of the relationship. The number of times Karl and Sean between them had had to comfort crying maidens or irate men on account of their brother…

Viggo raised an eyebrow, smirking, "I just haven't found one to keep my interest long enough. I haven't found someone that takes my breath away."

"In other words, you want someone gorgeous with no brains," Sean said flatly, not one bit surprised.

“It might be my mission in life to find the most beautiful person alive,” Viggo said vainly.

Viggo had always been attracted to a pretty face, even when he was young. The amount of trouble that he had caused with Hugo, more so than Cate, didn’t bare thinking about, when he would invariably charm visitors from other countries into his bed, only to dismiss them with a wink and smile the following morning. One of the worst cases had been during a brief visit to Palthia, where upon seeing, Diane and Livia, the princesses of Palthia, Viggo had tried charm the sisters into his bed during each visit, and it was clear both would’ve happily succumbed to his charms, until it lead to the timely intervention of Ian, their father, and Eric, their brother, neither of whom had been impressed with Viggo’s actions and had caused many fights among the usually docile countries.

Sean and Karl often called him an older version of Keira, while Viggo argued that he simply didn’t want to settle down. He was happy to simply be with different people and experience new things. He believed being with just one person would be boring and he hated the thought of his love life ever becoming boring.

"What about the legendary 'Bloom of Boeotia' then? Rumor has it, he's the most beautiful man that ever lived…perhaps the most beautiful person to have ever lived – surely he would fill your…high standards for partners. What if he‘s your mission?" Karl said, smirking.

"I don't believe he exists," Viggo argued, peeved at his brother’s mocking.

"It's true," Sean said, shrugging, "I'm not sure if he could be considered the most beautiful man that ever lived, but he does exist. A man named Orlando, who married the emperor of Boeotia, Brad. Mother and Father went to the wedding years ago. It was said to be a truly spectacular event, I know people were talking about it for years afterwards.”

“Haven’t you ever heard any of the rumors about him?” Karl asked incredulously. “He was supposedly married off at an incredibly early age to Brad. He’s still very young. Around Keira’s age, I believe, he’s certainly no older. It was probably something to do with keeping peace among the country, I don’t know. Brad has never been the most loveable leader ever, so you know it had to be an arranged marriage. Besides from what I’ve heard they’re complete opposites in looks, personalities…I have no idea how the marriage has survived so long in all honesty.”

“I met Brad a few years ago when I went with Father to Boeotia. I never saw Orlando, but he was definitely mentioned rather frequently. Actually I did think it was strange I didn’t see Orlando though, I heard he is the prince Regent of Boeotia. There’s just something like Brad…I don’t know. He seemed like he was putting on an act, trying to act nice around us. It was kind of odd,” Sean said.

“You should know the man exists, Viggo. You tried to sleep with his sisters,” Karl said flatly.

Viggo grinned, “I can charm anyone into my bed. The only reason I couldn’t get to them was because of their overprotective brother. Eric really got on my nerves.”

“I don’t think he was too fond of you either. Besides, it’s a good thing it didn’t go any further. We really could’ve been at war with them,” Sean commented. “The same goes for Orlando. From what I saw of Brad, he was very protective of his sister and he’s probably like that or worse with his husband, if he’s really as beautiful as everyone says.”

"He's the only man no one can resist. I’m surprised you haven’t gone to look for him, Viggo. Why haven't you seduced him yet?" Karl asked mockingly.

Viggo's eyes narrowed into a glare directed at his younger brother, "It's all a rumour. No one can be that beautiful, besides everyone had different views of beauty. I doubt he’s any prettier than any other foreign prince, what is so special about this one?”

Viggo was honestly interested in what Orlando looked like and if he lived up to the rumors surrounding him, but he was too proud to let his brothers know that. They didn’t know that he was willing to travel anywhere just to see what the supposed beauty looked like.

Sean shrugged before he was called off by his new husband.

Viggo rolled his eyes at his brother’s open displays of affection, the gentle kisses and little laughs the two men shared, their heads pressed together. He could never imagine himself like that. Sure, he truly cared for David and had accepted him into the family with open arms, but that didn’t mean he would ever turn out like that. He and Sean were very different people.

Karl, however, was watching the whole display with a small smile on his lips. He thought the two men were adorable together and made the perfect couple. It was nice to see a couple truly in love instead of an arranged marriage with a stranger. He wished he could find someone like that before his father forced him into an arranged marriage. He was thankful his father gave his children chances to find their own spouse before he stepped in.

Karl watched Sean go before turning to Viggo, a disappointed look covering his face, "Is Orlando going to be one of your conquests, Viggo? Another nameless pretty face to add to your list?"

"Even if I wanted to, I could seduce him into my bed within an hour. It's not worth it to travel so far for a pretty face; Boeotia is half way around the world. He's probably no good at anything besides looking pretty anyway. You know how those types are anyway; spoilt, vain, and useless. It's not like it will ever become an issue; we're never going there," Viggo stated, the volume of his voice raising at the end of his spiel.

"You'd better hope we don't," Karl murmured, sighing.

“Good evening, one and all!”

Karl laughed, his conversation with Viggo forgotten, “Johnny! You’re drunk, aren’t you?

“No, definitely not. Not even close. It’s a wedding and people should be happy…” Johnny trailed off, looking at Viggo, “I take that back. Obviously a certain prince forgot how to act at weddings.” Seeing Viggo this peeved was unusual to say the least, if there was one thing Viggo loved it was a celebration with beautiful people, some with Dione weddings always had in excess and this wedding more so than most.

Viggo raised an eyebrow at his oldest friend, “Excuse me? I know perfectly well how to act at weddings. You can contribute my bad mood to my dear brother, Karl.”

He stomped off, heading over to his cousin, Dominic, where he was standing with Cate and his fiancé, Elijah, both casting knowing grins to Karl as Viggo headed over looking like a thunder cloud about to burst. At least the pair of them would be able to make Viggo laugh.

Watching him leave, Johnny’s brow furrowed, “Did I say something wrong?”

Karl sighed, “No. He’s upset because I teased him a little about him seducing the ‘Bloom of Boeotia’. He’s convinced he could bed the beauty. Sometimes I think Viggo’s ego exceeds even what I imagine.”

“Ah, yes, Orlando. It’s no wonder Viggo would be a little touchy about him. He probably is the only person Viggo couldn’t have. Could’ve been a shock to him maybe. You want me to talk to him?” Johnny asked.

Karl nodded, “If you wouldn’t mind. You’re the only one he seems to listen to anymore.”

Johnny shrugged and walked off to talk to Viggo with Karl’s watchful eye on the pair.
