Chapter 2
Viggo was getting ready for the premier of his new movie. He was dubbed as the new Indiana Jones. He laughed at the thought. Who would of thought? He straightened his tie, how he hated these things. He undid the tie again and rewrapped it, fussing as it was looking just as bad as the first time. The tie wasn’t the only thing he hated. He hated the premieres too, but it was all part of the job.

Christine was running late, again. He knew it was part of the job just like his. Acting was very unpredictable to say the least. She had called and said she would meet him at the theatre earlier in the day. She already had her dress with her just in case something like this happened. He always knew she was a wise woman. He smiled at the thought of his wife. They had such a great night the previous evening. She had told him the great news. She was pregnant!

Viggo had been elated at the news. He smiled into his reflection. Noticing some of his wrinkles and then his smile went away. He laughed and told himself it was just nerves. Nervous about being a new dad, nervous about being cast in this movie. He looked at his watch and knew he had to hurry. He picked up his jacket and quickly grabbed the car keys and left the house to head down to the theatre.

He drove out in the street and cursed when it started to pour down rain. He wondered how Christine was doing. He picked up his cell and gave her a call just to make sure she didn’t forget.

The phone rang a couple times. “Come on babe, pick up,” he growled as he drove through the busy traffic, god forbid he take a limo.

“Hello,” came the cheery voice on the other end.

“Hey babe, are you on your way?” he asked.

“Oh, is that tonight?” she laughed as he let out a huff.

“Yeah sweetie, I’m on my way, just got caught up in traffic and the rain is terrible!”

“You tell that driver of yours to take it easy.”

“He knows how to drive Vig, he’s been doing it for years,”

“Doesn’t matter, its raining and its dark and there are a lot of people out tonight,”

Christine laughed at his mothering.

“I will see you on the red carpet babe,” she said as she gazed out into the black of the night, the rain making it hard to see.

“Okay, fine, I’ll see you there then.” He closed the phone and looked out at the night sky.
“Clouds look black as all get out,” he moaned. He looked at his watch again, he had better hurry or he would be late to his own movie.

His arrival was somewhat delayed as he neared the street that the movie was going to be shown. He saw the distinct glare of red flashing light and lines of cars that were being directed past an accident. He slowly pulled up near where the officers were directing him to a nearby street and he noticed them taking out a woman from a limo. It’s side had been crushed by a truck. His stomach tightened immediately. He strained his neck to see if he could get a close up of who it was, he had to make sure. He felt this horrible knot in his stomach. He knew it had to be a celebrity, being in a limo and being in this area. There was nothing but limos around. He drove his car a little closer than what he should of and saw the pale face splattered with blood as the paramedics were transferring the stetcher into the ambulance. There movements frantic as they preformed CPR. His heart stopped as he recognized his wife. “No,” he whispered to himself.” It can’t be.”

“Please sir you need to keep moving,” said the officer who had now approached the car. “Sir?” he asked again looking at the man whose eyes were glued on the horrific scene,

Viggo looked up at him. “My wife,” he stammered finally.

“What sir?” the young officer asked.

Viggo tried controlling his breathing that was rapidly accelerating. “My wife…that’s my wife!” he blurted out jumping out of the car heading towards the ambulance.

“Sir, sir,” they need to get to the hospital right away.” The officer grabbed his arm to prevent him from getting in the way.

Viggo fought the officer trying to get to his wife before they closed the ambulance door. But another had joined in the effort to stop him. He watched as the doors closed swiftly and the ambulance took off into the night, it sirens blaring loudly.

Viggo stood there to stunned to speak watching as they took his wife away.

“Sir? Can you here me?” The officer asked.

Viggo turned to the man standing next to him, holding his arm.

“I need to get to the hospital,” is all he could say.

“I’ll take you there sir, just come with me okay.”

Viggo nodded his head numbly and followed the officer to his unit. He sat inside the car, the shock finally setting in. He felt dazed. This couldn’t be happening! He slumped over in the seat he brought his hands up to his face trying to rub away the numbness he felt there.

“We’ll be there shortly sir.” The officer told him and started the car and drove after the ambulance with the lights and sirens going.
