A deep troubleless sleep drifts heavily accross the dark bedroom bathing in mid-summer heat. Two bodies lay entangled, breathing peacefully against one another, weary from love, resting to face a new day. A cool breeze blows from an open window, making the weight of the heat lighten, but only momentarily. The other body stirrs, subconciously lifting a weary hand to brush a dark curl out of his face, falling back to slumber just soon enough to not notice the curl falling right back. A sleepy sigh escapes from slightly open lips as a body nuzzles sleepily against the other.
Silence returns.
Until there’s a drop. And soon another. And a third, until the stillness of the burning heat of the night is disturbed by a cooling shower of rain. The quieteness of the room is broken by a soothing rattle of raindrops, making the air a little more easier to breathe as the bedroom starts to cool slowly. The other body shifts, eyes open slowly. A deep breath is drawn, filling lungs with fresh air, breathing out softly, not wanting to wake the other. A rough but gentle hand rises, pushes off the same curl that was lifted before, already knowing it will fall right back. A loving smile is born, as the untaimed strand of hair slumps back to cover the sleeping eye. The smiling lips briefly lean to touch a soft cheek before a body is carefylly disentangled from the other, sliding out of bed. Bare feet pad accross the room, making no sound. Footsteps stop at the door, eyes wanting to to steal another glance of the beautiful sleeping figure before moving on again.
The footsteps continue again, padding accross the house. A door cracks open, letting the smell of the summer rain fill the house. Footsteps move on, accross the porch, until the bare feet touch the wet grass. The steps stop, a deep sigh is heard again, eyes close, as cooling drops start to pour over bare skin. The body lingers, stays still.
The other one, still in bed, stirrs again, shivering slightly as the cool air meets his skin. He shifts , trying to seek warmth from the other body, trying to snuggle closer. Brown eyes open, and a frown appears as he only finds an empty, already cooling bed.
But the he hears the rain and the frown immediately changes into a smile, as he suddenly knows where to find his source of warmth. Shuddering at the chilly air, but keeping the awaiting warmth in mind, he slides out of bed as well, heading towards the still open door. He stops at the porch, smiling automatically as he sees his love, standing still in the rain. He can only see a beautiful back, but he knows the other one has his eyes closed and a smile playing on his lips. He knows, that’s how it always goes. He walks as quietly as possible, moving in front of the still body.
The older mans smile widens and he opens his arms, and closes them again as the other body presses against him, nuzzling his sleepy face against his already wet neck. The younger man smiles as he wraps his arms around the wet body, sighing contently. He feels wet lips against his hair and strong hands around his body and warmth starts to sneak back to him, from inside and out.
Orlando used to hate rain, but just like this, without ever saying a word, Viggo has taught him to love it.
