Orli sighed as he sat down carefully in the leather seat of Viggo’s SUV. He was finally going home; it wasn’t ‘his’ home but it would do. They spent the ride talking about how they had fixed up Viggo’s place so that Orli and Sean could both move in, which made Orli very happy. He felt so safe with the two of them, like no one could ever hurt him again. “So, where is Sean?” Orli asked, surprised not to see him.

Viggo laughed, “He’s at the house making sure everything is perfect for you. I don’t know who’s more excited about you being there, me or him.”

“You really want me there? I mean I just figured I would be in your way mostly,” he said softly as he picked at the cording on the car door.

Viggo was taken aback by what he heard. Orli was broken and he was determined to help him put his life back together no matter how long it took. “Orli, I want you there more then anything and you could never be in my way. I meant what I said to you in the hospital. I love you with all my heart and nothing, nothing will ever change that.” He glanced over and saw tears falling down Orlando’s face as he stared absently out the window. “I know you need time, Orli, and I will give you all the time you need to work through this and,” he took a deep breath, “I will understand if you don’t love me back.” Orli’s head snapped around so that he could look at Viggo. “I screwed things up so bad because I was too damn scared to tell you how I really felt. I was afraid that…” he stopped and shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I love you and even if I can only have your friendship that would be something that I would cherish.” His heart pounded against his chest when Orli’s slender hand reached out and entwined with his.

The rest of the ride was spent in silence, only broken when they pulled into the driveway. “Here we are. Home sweet home,” Viggo smiled as he got out of the car and rushed to Orli’s side to assist him. As soon as he was on his feet Sean ran out the door and up to them.

“Punk!” he laughed as he hugged him tight. “How was the ride home? I know how Viggo drives,” he teased as he led them both into the house.

“Hey!” Viggo whined indignantly. “At least I drive on the right fucking side of the road!”

Orlando relaxed as they all laughed. Maybe this was going to be easier then he thought. Viggo and Sean weren’t treating him any differently then before. He was still ‘elf boy’ and they were the ‘filthy humans’.;Yeah this would work just fine, he smiled to himself. “So what do you smelly humans have to eat around here?”

Viggo and Sean smiled at each other. “Anything a prissy elf could want,” Viggo teased.

Trying to think of something he knew Viggo didn’t keep on hand, “Grilled hamburgers?” he smirked.

Viggo looked to Sean, “ You want to grill or shall I?”

Sean held up his hands and his voice took on a snobbish air. “I am the grill master. No one shall ever challenge me.” Ignoring the smirks and the stifled snorts he headed into the kitchen to prepare.

“We really probably should get the fire extinguishers ready,” Viggo laughed.

“And have the phone handy to ring the fire department,” Orli chuckled.

Sean stuck his head back out of the kitchen. “I can so hear you both and just for that I am going to do something nasty to your food,” he huffed as he went back to work.

They both laughed again. After a moment of silence and lingering thoughts on just what Sean could do Orli spoke. “You never have food in your house, Viggo, much less something like hamburger that will spoil. What gives?”

“You,” he smiled and stepped closer. “I have all your favorite things here. I wanted to be sure you felt safe and at home.” He saw the tears forming in Orli’s eyes and didn’t want to bring the mood down. Putting his arm around the slightly trembling shoulders he smiled, “We should go watch, I mean, help Sean.” Orli smiled as they walked in to the kitchen.

After about an hour and way too much lighter fluid the fire in the grill had finally died down enough for them to cook their burgers. Sean grumbled as he put the meat on the rack. “I can hear you laughing over there ya know.”

“I’m surprised, I thought for sure the explosion would have rendered you deaf,” Viggo teased, though it wasn’t far from the truth.

Orli had tears rolling down his face, he was laughing so hard. Sean shut the lid on the grill and held up his spatula, “You are finding this entirely too funny. What would Peter say if Boromir were to show up with no eyebrows?” To that Orli’s answer was another howl of laughter. Sean smiled, glad his friend was feeling better though worried about what he knew was yet to come. Snapping out of such dark thoughts and back to enjoying this time together he threw a towel at the elf and growled.

Dinner went well with laughter and light conversation but both men could tell Orli was getting tired. “I say we let Viggo clean up the kitchen and we get you into bed for some rest,” Sean suggested.

“No,” Orli whined. “I don’t want to go to bed.”

Viggo smiled and ruffed his hair, “We will be here while you sleep and when you wake Orli. I promise. You are still weak and you need to rest and let your body heal.” The sad pout was about to get to him, “If you can’t go to sleep come back down ok?”

Finally relenting, though not admitting how tired he was, he agreed. “Just so you both know, I’m not a baby. I can make my own decisions,” he huffed and headed up the stairs.

Sean looked at Viggo and shook his head both hoping things would be all right in the end. Viggo cleared the table and Sean went to make sure Orli was settled and safe. When he walked into the bedroom Orli was already lying under the covers, his still too pale flesh nearly matching the sheets. He sat down beside him. “Orli, you, you know how much you mean to me right?” he asked, as he nervously tapped his fingers together. When he got no response he continued, “You and Viggo are my best friends. I hold you in my heart right up there with my daughters.” Orli’s eyes shot to his at that statement and Sean nodded. “That’s right love, I do and I will do everything in my power to help you through this or anything else that might come along in your life. I’ll always be there for you Orli, always.” He laughed and nearly toppled off the bed when he found himself with his arms full of elf.

“I love you too Beanie!” He held him tight, feeling safe in his arms.

“I want you to know that I am going to help you whether or not you want help or think you need it.” He pushed Orli back enough to look into his eyes. “I’m not going to push, but Orlando, I’m not going to let you lock all of this inside and slowly kill yourself either. I’m not saying you have to tell me every detail or that we have to talk about it now, just that I am here, Viggo is here and we are not leaving your side even if you try and make us.”

“Promise,” Orli nearly whispered. Knowing that everything that Sean had said was right and that he had already told himself that he could bury it away like it never happened.

“Promise love,” he smiled and laid him back on the bed. “Before you go to sleep you need to call your mum. She is worried about you and needs to know you’re here now ok?”

“No! I can’t tell her Sean I can’t!”

“She already knows,” he explained, sadly. “The police called her when you were found. They told her Orli.” Terrified brown eyes stared at him. “It’s ok, she is your mum. She loves you, you know that.” Sean handed him the phone and went downstairs with Viggo.

Orli sighed and dialed the phone hoping against hope that for some reason it would not ring. As usual his luck was not good and his mother’s voice filtered over the phone. “Hi mum.”
