“Just not feeling it this year.” Orlando sighed. “We’re decorating the tree, but… there’s war, corruption, poverty, pollution….”

Viggo pulled Orlando close.

“Gets me too, sometimes,” Viggo whispered. “And those things matter, so much. But… all that’s news because it’s not the norm. The other: people working for peace, a clean planet, truth… people teaching and encouraging… they’re not news. Because they’re everywhere.” He brushed a gentle kiss to Orlando’s knuckles.

“Hope is real. We’re right to keep it.”

Orlando turned to find tiny colored lights reflected in beloved eyes, and felt the spark of hope rekindle in his heart.
