LoTR cast and crew ball question

  I had a prompt from  kinseymillabout this. It happened in 2000, sounded like a costume ball, and was reported on theonering.net, which is down recently everytime I try to find out more on it. Anyways, Orlando was dressed in a white suit with dark eye make-up and the reporter said he was "getting down with his bad self."

Who was he supposed to be, do you think? 

I have my idea for this, but I'd like to know since his decision will be a part of the fic. I could always just make something up, but I figured I'd ask first to see if anyone knew.
