Chapter 10

Orlando could hear the sound of struggling coming from downstairs. He bolted upright in bed as a loud crash sounded from somewhere below. Breathing hard, he listened as he tried to make out who was talking but the voices were so mumbled he couldn’t understand. The sounds were getting closer and Orlando whimpered as he recognized the voices…Mark…Viggo…Tork…Alex and Harvey. They were here. They had found him.

Orlando suddenly heard Viggo yell, “Run Orlando! Run…” That was it before Viggo’s voice was cut off and silence remained.

Orlando jumped out of bed and ran to the door but before he could reach it the door was thrown open and he could see Mark’s body outlined by the hallway lights. Orlando stumbled back as terror filled the very depths of his soul.

“Hello son. We meet again.” Mark growled as he slowly came into the room. “I’ve missed you.”

Orlando’s strength gave out and he fell to the floor. “Please…” he whispered as tears ran down his cheeks. “Please don’t.” But Mark kept coming toward him. Orlando tried to scoot back as fast as he could but soon ran out of room as his back pressed against the bed.

“You’ve been a naughty boy, Slut. I think I’m going to have to punish you. And then when I’m done, they get a turn.” Mark snarled as he pointed over his shoulder where
Tork, Harvey and Alex were standing in the doorway.

Orlando sobbed as Mark grabbed his shirt and yanked him up. He balled his fists and beat them against Mark’s chest but Mark only tightened his grip before pushing him down onto the bed and straddling his chest.

Out of the corner of his eye Orlando could see Tork, Alex and Harvey join them on the bed.

“I truly hope you survive this to learn your lesson.” Mark stated as he began to rip the clothes from Orlando’s body.

“No! Stop! Viggo! Help me! Help! Viggo!” Orlando screamed.

“He won’t be helping you anymore Orlando….”

“Orlando.”

“Orlando…”

“Orlando! Wake up. It’s okay. You’re alright, just wake up.”

Orlando jerked awake and away from the hands that were holding him down. His breathing was coming out in rapid unsteady gasps as he looked around the room trying to adjust himself to the present situation. A dream, it was only a dream. He flopped back onto the pillow as he tried to control his breathing and was met with Viggo’s concerned face.

“Are you okay?” Viggo asked quietly. He could see tears forming in Orlando’s eyes and slowly reached out to place his hand on Orlando’s chest. He could feel Orlando’s heart racing beneath his fingertips.

Orlando shook his head. He wasn’t fine. It had been so real. He was so sure he would wake up in the small room, a prisoner again, with no hope or freedom. He could still feel Mark’s body pressed against his chest and the thought made him shiver. He was scared; no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t let go of the dream. Orlando felt tears spill down his cheeks and he shook his head again. He looked up at Viggo, his savior, and with a sob threw himself into Viggo’s arms. He buried his face in Viggo’s neck and cried as he felt Viggo’s arms slide around him tightly.

“It’s okay, I’ve got you. It was just a dream. Nothing is going to hurt you.” Viggo whispered calming words into Orlando’s ear until the crying had stopped. Once it had Viggo pushed Orlando back a little so he could wipe the tear streaks from his face.

“Better?”

Orlando shrugged as he refused to meet Viggo’s eyes. He had calmed down but was still shaking slightly.

Viggo placed his finger under Orlando’s chin and raised it until Orlando looked him in the eye. “Scary dream?” He continued after Orlando nodded. “I can guess what it was about, but I want you to know I won’t let anyone hurt you again Orlando. You’re going to be fine now.” Viggo smiled and wiped fresh tears away from Orlando’s eyes.

Orlando took a shaky breath and said, “They will come for me, they won’t stop until they have me back.”

“They won’t be able to find you; I won’t let them find you.” Viggo stated. He looked at the clock and saw it was only three in the morning. “It’s still early, why don’t you get some more sleep.”

Orlando shook his head. “No, I don’t want to sleep anymore.”

Viggo could tell it would be a while before Orlando would willingly go to sleep. He knew Orlando was afraid of dreaming again. “Okay, then just lie down with me for a while; you don’t have to sleep if you don’t want to.” Viggo helped Orlando lie back and then got under the covers next to Orlando and lay down on the other pillow facing Orlando. “Tell me more about your trips north with your father, tell me about the Northern lights, they
sound pretty interesting.”

Orlando scooted closer to Viggo until there was only a foot of space between them. He felt safe being close to Viggo. He got so caught up in talking about the lights that the dream was slowly pushed from his mind.

“The lights lit up the sky so bright that…you could see the fish swimming in the water below…they were all colored from it’s…reflection.” Orlando was having a hard time finishing his sentence as his eye lids slowly dropped from tiredness.

“Sounds fascinating, we will have to go there some day.” Viggo whispered softly to Orlando.

“Yeah.” Orlando mumbled right before sleep washed over him.

Viggo continued to watch Orlando as the young man slept. Orlando looked so peaceful in his sleep and Viggo was once again blown away by the boy’s beauty. Viggo reached out a hand and gently ran his knuckles over Orlando’s porcelain like skin before lowering it to rest on top of the young man’s hand that was resting on the bed between them. He was slowly lulled to sleep by the sound of Orlando’s light breathing.

“That’s it?” Mark asked, staring stupidly at Harvey, something the others were currently also doing. “That’s your plan?”

“Yes, stop staring at me like that you jackasses! It could very well work; we have the means at our disposal to do it.” Harvey defended his well thought out plan.

“So we just leak this rumor and that’s it? There is nothing more to it?” Alex piped up after a few minutes of silence.

“Well…after the rumor gets out Orlando will just be delivered right back into our hands. It’s simple.” Harvey stated.

“It’s stupid.” Tork said, causing Harvey to glare at him.

“Alright, let’s just pretend for a moment we are going to do this. We start a rumor that a disturbed young man has escaped from an institution, was spotted in the area babbling about being kept prisoner at a bar; it gets in the news and in the papers and then what? You just expect someone to return him here?” Mark asked.

“No, I would expect them to turn him over to the police…” Harvey said with an evil grin on his face. The others nodded their heads, warming up to the plan.

“But we are forgetting that he was taken from here. Someone will know his so called babbling is true.” Alex pointed out.

“Yeah, but whoever took him had to of had some contact with someone. Or maybe someone saw him being helped out of here or something along those lines and will come forward with some information at least.” Harvey put in.

“Well it certainly wouldn’t hurt any if we did try this plan, we could wait a week or two and if nothing comes up then we can try something else.” Mark decided. “I just want to hurry up, for all we know he could be half way across the country by now.”

“Ok, well I’ll go get started on this rumor of ours; I have to go in to work anyway.” Alex replied as he picked up his jacket and headed for the door. “I’ll call later to give you all an update.”

Orlando awoke to the feeling of warmth surrounding his body. Opening his eyes he was met with a blue wall squashed against his face. Huh? Coming fully awake he soon realized it was moving…no it was breathing. Orlando slowly moved his head away and looked into Viggo’s face that was inches from his own. Orlando realized he must have rolled over to Viggo and nestled against his chest in his sleep. The blue wall was Viggo’s shirt which he had pushed his face up against. Embarrassed, Orlando tried to move away but realized he was anchored by Viggo’s arm that was thrown across his waist holding him tightly to Viggo’s body.

Looking back to Viggo’s face Orlando took the time to study the sleeping man. Orlando couldn’t help but smile at the way Viggo’s shaggy brown hair was sticking up in all different directions. He lowered his eyes to Viggo’s forehead, which was smoothed out in sleep, and onto his closed eyes. He could picture the gentle blue-grey coloring he would see again once the eyes opened and was strangely calmed by that fact. Orlando let his eyes roam over the strong cheekbones and jaw line. His eyes were pulled to the dent in Viggo’s chin. He carefully raised his hand and placed his finger against it; a perfect fit. His eyes were then drawn to the older mans lips. The smooth thin flaps were parted slightly as Viggo’s breath escaped and wafted against Orlando’s head, gently blowing the curls off his forehead.

Orlando frowned slightly as his eyes came to rest on a faint scar above Viggo’s lip. He wondered how Viggo could have gotten it. He suddenly wondered what Viggo’s life was like before Viggo had found him. What would Viggo be doing with his time if he didn’t have him to take care of? Yes, he was being taken care of. But for how long, he didn’t know. Orlando suddenly wondered if he would ever be able to take care of himself or would he just have to stay in hiding all his life?

Orlando sighed sadly at the thought. He put his head back down on the bed. He didn’t want to think about his life and what would happen to him in the future or about Mark or anything at all.

A few hours later a surprised Viggo woke up to find a sleeping Orlando nestled against his side. He was even more surprised to discover his arms wrapped tightly around the young man. Shifting slightly he eased his arms from around Orlando and sat up in bed. His hopes of not waking Orlando with his movements were dashed as he saw Orlando’s eyes flutter open and lock on his gaze.

“Sleep ok?” Viggo asked.

“Better.” Orlando replied. “No dreams this time.” He offered Viggo a small smile which was returned.

“Good, I’ll go fix us something to eat; you can clean up in the bathroom if you feel like it.” Viggo said as he departed the room.

Orlando got up and slowly made his way to the bathroom. He knew he was gaining strength because he could now walk short distances by himself with little effort. His wounds still hurt a lot but the pride he felt about being able to stand and walk on his own made it bearable.

Orlando took care of his body and was relieved to see that when he pulled Sean’s medicated bandages out there were only a few patches of blood spots on them. Looking into the mirror; he saw that the black and blue marks along with the cuts and scraps were still evident on his face and body but were slowly fading. Soon there would be nothing left on his body to remind him of the horrible experience he had been through.

He only wished the memories would fade away like the bruising did.
