 Orlando sat in the chair in the doctor's office, his knee bouncing up and down as he chewed on his thumbnail. Dr. Adams seemed to be taking forever, and Orlando wanted him to hurry up so he could get this behind him. He jumped when the door suddenly opened and the doctor swiftly moved into the room, taking his seat behind the desk.

He started by asking Orlando if he had any problems with the incision site. Since he hadn't, the doctor said there was no need to examine him again. He went through several other general questions asking if he had run any fever or had any pain. Orlando was starting to lose his patience; he needed to know the results of the biopsy before he totally lost it.

He watched as Dr. Adams looked in his chart, scanning over the lab results. Orlando was glad that he was sitting down when Dr. Adams looked up and smiled. The results were clear; the biopsy showed no cancerous cells. Orlando felt like he was about to pass out. He wanted to laugh, cry, and scream and he knew if he had been standing, he would be on the floor right now.

Orlando shook the doctor’s hand and thanked him for everything that he had done. He made his way out to front where Gary was waiting. He couldn't keep the smile off his face when he walked through the door and Orlando surprised himself by walking straight over to Gary and throwing his arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Once Orlando released him, he leaned back so they were face-to-face. He was a chatterbox, talking rapidly, telling Gary that everything was fine. Without thinking, Orlando suddenly leaned forward and pressed his lips to Gary's, giving him a firm kiss. Gary froze immediately unsure of what to do. As quickly as it started it was over and Orlando was pulling back from him.

Orlando squeezed his eyes shut, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen."

When he finally opened his eyes Gary was smiling at him. "It's okay. It was one of those spur of the moment things. There's no harm done, okay?"

Orlando stumbled over his words. "It's just… I can't do this.”

Gary squeezed his shoulders. "Hey, I know. I understand. Like I told you before, just friends, alright?" Orlando let out a deep breath and nodded.  Gary didn't say out loud what he was thinking; Orlando still loved Viggo. He just hoped that Orlando realized it before it was too late.

They decided to go have a quick bite to eat and a couple of beers in celebration of the good news.  Orlando found himself laughing more than he had in a long time and it felt really good to feel happiness again. Well, not total happiness, but at least he was in a better place now than before. His heart still ached for Viggo and he still loved him so much. Deep in his heart Orlando wished that Viggo was here celebrating with him. He quickly pushed those thoughts out of his mind, not wanting to ruin this happy moment with thoughts that would never be.

They finished eating and decided to head back to the set so Orlando could pick up his Jeep. Most of the set was empty and a lot of the cast and crew had already gone home for the day. Gary killed the engine and they both got out of the car. He walked around to the other side to where Orlando was standing and gave him a warm hug. Orlando thanked him, saying he didn't think he would have made it if it wasn't for Gary.

He just rolled his eyes, telling Orlando that he was much stronger than that. He shooed him towards his Jeep telling him to go home and rest as tomorrow is going to be another long day. Gary watched Orlando drive away and then he climbed back into his car and started the engine, ready to head home himself. That's when he looked up and saw him.

Viggo.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Viggo had been on his way to the trailer to pick up his backpack when he saw that Gary had returned with Orlando. The pain that cut through his heart was excruciating as he watched the two of them hug and talk. Not able to watch anymore, Viggo turned and went into the trailer.
Gary climbed out of the car again, deciding to try to talk to Viggo. He knocked on the door several times and after receiving no answer, he slowly opened the door. Viggo was sitting on the couch in the corner, leaned over. His elbows were resting on his knees and he held his face in his hands.
Viggo didn't hear the door open, and he jumped a little bit when the door clicked closed. He turned his head to see who was there, and stiffened when he realized it was Gary.
Gary stood right inside the door for a while with his hands shoved into his pockets, fiddling nervously with his keys.  Finally he took a few steps forward being careful not to get too close and crowd Viggo. "Umm… Hey.  I just wanted to talk to you for just a minute."
Viggo didn’t say anything; he just stared at Gary with no emotion on his face. It was painful to be in the same room with the man who held Orlando's affections and he hoped that Gary would say whatever he needed and leave as quickly as possible.
"I want you to know that there’s nothing going on between me and Orlando. We are friends and nothing more." Gary paused and took a deep breath. "Also I need to thank you for that night in the bar. If you and Sean hadn't intervened, the same thing would've happened to me that happened to Orlando." Gary moved over to the side and leaned against one of the makeup chairs, choosing his next words carefully. "You have to give him some more time. There is no doubt that he still loves you but he’s still hurt and he’s scared to let you back in his heart." Gary paused for a few moments and then shrugged his shoulders, "Anyway, I just wanted you to know."
Viggo nodded his head not knowing what to say. He rubbed at his tired eyes with his fingertips and when he opened them again, Gary was gone. Viggo leaned back on the couch, thoughts racing through his mind. Did he have a chance with Orlando again? He hoped that Gary was right, but he didn't know if his heart could handle the long wait.
The next few days were uneventful. Orlando and Viggo both arrived at the set each morning, spent their day filming, and then each of them went home alone. Viggo couldn't help but constantly watch Orlando all during the day, his fingers itching to reach out and touch him.
Finally the weekend was approaching and the cast was going to be off for two days. By Friday afternoon everyone was keyed up and ready to finish so they could hit the bars. Viggo was exhausted and the last thing he wanted to do was go out drinking. He stood over to the side of the set and watched Orlando happily chatting away with Gary. He looked down at his watch and then back at Orlando, nodding his head. Viggo knew that they were making plans to go out. Despite what Gary had told him the other day, Viggo felt like he had lost Orlando forever.
After getting out of his costume and taking off his wig and makeup, Viggo managed to escape before the hobbits caught up with him. He threw his backpack into the passenger seat and climbed behind the wheel. Viggo looked up to see Orlando and Gary meeting up in the parking lot. They stood close together and seemed to be very comfortable with each other. Viggo's heart felt like it would burst out of his chest when Orlando leaned in and gave Gary a quick kiss and hug before they got in to their respective vehicles and drove away. Viggo swallowed hard, his vision blurring with tears.  Glancing up in the rearview mirror, he could see the hobbits approaching so he quickly started the car and sped off towards home. He wanted to be alone.
Orlando woke up late the next morning and it felt good to sleep in a little bit. He and Gary had gone out to see a movie and then to have a few beers. He had got home late and Orlando was dead tired. It had been a long week. Being around Viggo had been very hard, and Orlando’s constant fight with his emotions was draining him.
Orlando remembered that he still had stuff over at Viggo's house and he wondered if he should go over today to pick up a few things. After having a quick bite to eat, Orlando decided to drive by Viggo's house to see if he was home. He made the short trek over and was glad to see that the driveway was empty. Orlando pulled in and killed the engine, sitting in his car for a long time. He finally got up the nerve to go in and he didn't know what to expect.
Orlando came in the side door that led to the kitchen. As he walked further inside, he noticed was that the house was very dark. All of the shades had been pulled shut. Orlando wandered from room to room, taking in all the changes.  The kitchen was totally bare. There were no dirty dishes in the sink and when he opened up the refrigerator, he found that it was almost completely empty.
Orlando wandered towards the living room.  It was pretty much the same but he noticed that there was a blanket on the couch where someone had been sleeping there. Lying on a table in the corner was Viggo’s camera.  Evidently he hadn’t been taking any pictures lately, as the camera was usually never far from his hands.  He fingered the strap to the camera, feeling sad that Viggo was giving up something he loved.
Against his better judgment Orlando walked down the hall to the bedroom. The room was neat and tidy and the bed was made.  Orlando frowned.  They had never made the bed, Viggo saying that it would be a waste of time since they would be messing it up again in a little while. Orlando felt a stab of pain as he realized the house had changed drastically. When they were together, their junk was scattered around the house, and it was warm and comfortable. The house seemed cold now, almost sterile. Orlando wondered if Viggo was spending any time here at all. He found the few items that he was looking for and was about to leave when something caught his eye. He turned and walked into the room that was Viggo's studio. There were several canvases propped around the room, and Orlando clamped his hand over his mouth. The paintings immediately brought forward feelings of anguish and sorrow, and Orlando found himself sliding down the wall slowly.  The images were full of pain and he wanted to look away, but Orlando found that he could not. He sat there for a long while just staring at them, his heart aching more with each passing moment. Finally he shook himself out of his reverie and decided that he needed to get going. Viggo would probably be back soon and Orlando didn't want to be there when he returned. With one more sad look around, Orlando made his way out of the house, locking the door behind him.
You've almost made me cry .... sighs.
Orlando is good, seems happy and it is unfair to continue to behave so, and even Viggo must decide to go talk to Orlando.
They seriously need to talk!
Thanks for this update, I can not wait to read more!
This is still very painful. I felt sorry for Viggo but then I remembered his betrayal. He really has to work on this... something, it's in the "something" phase.
I hope they get back what they had, except if they work on it, it can be better. I hope it will be better.
It´s so painful for both of them, it is understandable that Orlando needs time to heal, but hopefully thea can talk soon.
