A spontaneous ‘shit’ escaped Eric’s lips as he saw the appearance of his friend’s face. Orlando had a slightly swollen upper lip and his left eye was turning purple, both of his eyes were red-rimmed telling Eric that Orlando had been crying. Those sad eyes cast down and the hands fumbling with the hem of the shirt were too much for Eric, and he pulled Orlando in and into his arms, hugging his little brother tightly.

“What happened?”

“We broke up.” Orlando admitted quietly, too tired to share more tears.

“What? Why?”

“Because of Alan. I had a picture of him and me and Viggo thought I’m playing games with him. How could he? Doesn’t he know I’m paying for that mistake every day, that it haunts me just like it haunts him?” Orlando continued with the same quiet voice.

“The funniest thing is he didn’t let me explain. He...he was so aggressive, downright scary and I was my stupid self stepping on his nerves, pushing his buttons over the line. He demanded answers. I should have given them straight away but... The way he was acting... It would have been no use, he wouldn’t have believed me so I said I wouldn’t tell him anything when he was like that,” Orlando explained as he was led to the kitchen where Eric had put the water boiler on right after the phone call. “Hi, Rebecca,” Orlando said as he sat down his voice small and he didn’t even look at her.

“Hey,” was all Rebecca said her voice soft, looked at her husband knowingly, and pressing a kiss on top of Orlando’s curls she left the kitchen leaving the two men alone.

“What happened next?”

“I pushed his buttons, earned this,” Orlando said and finally faced Eric, showing the shape he was in.

“I’m sure he knows problems aren’t solved by hitting others. Violence only causes more," Eric reasoned and everything he got as an answer was a shrug.

“You know this is something you have to discuss him with?”

“I know and I want to. I want to confront him and make him listen, but he seemed so sure this wasn’t going to work. He’s disgusted in me and stormed out of the house without telling me where he was off to. I guess that was expected. He probably doesn’t want anything to do with me... and I can’t blame him. What I didn’t know was that his trust in me was so fragile; it was a bit of a surprise. Then again betrayal is a sin, one of the worst ways to break someone’s trust and if it’s broken once, I think it’s difficult to build back, if possible at all.

“Well, why do you have that picture?” Eric asked.

“You know why I have it.” Orlando answered his tone just as quiet as before.

“I do, yeah, but does Viggo know?”

"I haven’t had the chance to tell him,” Orlando whispered, the tip of his jaw trembling slightly.

“And I guess I won’t get another chance now. Oh, well...” Orlando sighed resignedly.

Getting two mugs out of the cabinet, Eric poured hot water into them and put a teabag in each. He handed the mug to Orlando, excusing himself when his phone rang. It was Sean.

“Beanie, hi. Let me guess. Vigster has come to you.”

“Hi. Yeah, he’s here. Any suggestions?” Sean asked sighing.

“They should talk it out, meet on neutral ground, I think.”

“Sooner rather than later, yeah?”

“I think so.”

“Mind if we come over?”

“You sure Vig will come?”

“No, but I’m going to make him. I’m not giving him any options. These guys are in love with each other for Christ’s sake.”

“Okay, then. I’ll be waiting for ya.”
